Im just curious how much it normally costs to swap in a rb25det or rb26dett engine into a s13, s14. What motor mount kid did you use?? did you use the stock smic or front mount? Also add any details you would like.

I spent about $6000 or so including buying the car.

Mods were Blitz LM Series intake, Blitz Realize TT ECR33 Exhaust, and a Walbro fuel pump...other than that it was mostly stock.

I am currently around 13K including the car.

Here is what just the swap cost me

$3250 -RB25DET motorset (I requested the sidemount and got it included)$1150 - Mckinney mounts and Driveshaft$350- Wiring Mckinney$220- Flex-a-lite dual fans$200-hoses, fluids, misc$100- walbro fuel pump----------------------------$4120 total

That is using the stock sidemount, and doing all the work myself. That is also doing it without fixing anything, like the speedometer, and tach.

After the swap the car was overpowering the rear wheel, so I added a VLSD and axles ($350)

Hybrid FMIC with piping ($700)Tein Flex Coilovers ($1400)Tanabe Control arms ($1300)Poly bushing set ($100)Temp Sender ($20)S13 seats were crap so S15 seats ($750)Boost gauge ($40)Apexi N1 Dual Exhaust ($650)Shortening my Down pipe (free, I know a welder)I am probably still going to end up buying the one mckinney has for $220

The extra's to make the car handle the way it should with the new found power quickly adds up.

So my advice is that if you only have $4-5K to spend, you should probably keep saving up.

Not to start another war on wiring and mounts, but the time and hastle it saved me was well worth it. Read all the wiring and mount post and you will see what I mean.

I highly recommend the SR20 if you are on a budget.

I am with Nismo on his comment about SR20 if on a budget. Or turbo the KA.I have spend close to 7K on swapPlus 1500 for car.Now I do have a larger turbo, FMIC, and Apex PFC.It all adds up.

Ive got about 5k in mine, but it still needs alot. the 5k includes car, motor, fuel pump, clutch, water temp and oil pressure gauges, dual fans, 3 inch o2 housing back exhaust. Still need suspension, brakes, seats, and more power. oh and my water pump seal is starting to leak alot so ive got to put a new pump in it also.

Is that dealer cost? If I could get a clip for 1800 I'd do it right now. I would have to see it 1st before I'd buy it though.

No that is the hook-up cost, lower then destibutor cost. The guy was hurting for business and needed the money really bad, so I talked him into that deal. My clip came with everything and the motor was a SII and only had 17k on it.

Yeah, those V-Spec GT-R engines can prove to be quite elusive, but always worth the money. Settle for the regular ol' GT-R motor if you want, I'd hold out for a V-Spec motor, or even a V-Spec II. Then you'd have some power.

.......wait, what??

:rolleyes Do some more research.
