Hey guys just like th etitle says, im trying to find this out. I am about to buy a motorset and when it gets here i plan to put Tomei 1.2mm head gasket, ARP Head bolts, re ring the stock pistons, put all new rod and main bearings in and put all new seals and gaskets. Also going to put a new Power Enterprises Timing belt along with new timing belt tensioner kit.

Im probably going to put a T3T4 on the engine when i get my current SR20DET sold, as well as some 600cc injectors and an enthalpy tune, but i wanted to find out if i can do 350-400whp safely on the stock internals. down the road i will be doing cams and valve springs as well but thats as time allows. i just want to get that ****ty stock turbo off the motor.

Thanks for all and any help!

Phil

Don't quote me, but I think that is about the maximum on stock bottom end.

By the way, this should actually be in the RB forum, not Skyline.

I see no reason why the 20 could not contain 400 if it was tight. No not "tyte", tight like in has good sealing and has not had the living snot beat out of it. The stock internals just mean you have a much smaller margin of error. A prepped motor will see lees stress, be more reliable and forgiving at power levels like that to things like say, a sudden dip in fuel rail pressure, a misshift or a weak clutch triggering a nasty overrev, etc. You know you best. If you exhibit heat of the moment knucklehead tendencies you may want to stay around 300hp or at least have a freind with a tow strap on speed dial.

yeah thanks man like i said i plan to overhaul the motor when it gets here pretty much...

...new rings, new seals, new gaskets, RB26DETT N1 Oil pump and crank collar, Greddy 1.5mm 79mm head gasket, ARP head main and rod bolts/studs.

ill probably take the car over to enthalpy since he's only a couple hours away from me, to have it tuned. But i will have to wait for the 600cc injectors, aeromotive FPR, Garrett T3T4 50trim and even then im only planning for about 300whp for street and thats it until i get cams and springs. then its on like donkey kong. but still 325whp-ish street.. i know stock internals are good. BUT i dont want to press my luck with 400 daily driven. Ill save that for a day at the track, AND EVEN THEN! im sure 350whp will get me well into the 11s which is all im looking for. so i may not even have to go that stupid yanno? I appreciate it and i kinda consider the lack of flaming a warm welcome from the RB/Skyline community. As you can see i do know stuff about these cars ive been dealing with the SR for a couple years not and im just bored with it.

anyway, thanks again

phil

We are a loveable bunch in the RB area. All that time you spent with the SR is forgiven.
