Hello again everyone. I am doing a remote mount turbo on my 4x4 truck. What is a good amount of boost that a stock internal VG30E can handle? Given of course with a complete fuel upgrade... injectors... pump... etc...I was going to run 8psi at first but get bits and pieces of info that it can easily handle more no problem. 12psi? 14psi???

This is a real project that is 3/4 pieced together. All your experts help is much appreciated. Mahalo from Hawaii...

That depends on your piston rings, rod bearings, and c/r. It can be anywhere from 5 to 15 pounds w/ pump gas. That is assuming you're keeping the stock c/r and using an intercooler, which I would even though it's remote mounted.

Yeah... mototr is bone stock. 90k miles. stock compression is all good. There will be an intercooler mounted under the body. I guess maybe I will try restrict myself to 12psi.

Mount it up in the front bumper. There's plenty of room. Spend the extra money and do it right. It will be worth it if you do it right the first time. If you're going to run 12 psi the you're going to want to retard your timing a few degrees or more. Also, run a colder plug.

What turbo are you going to be running? T3/T4?

Also, is it auto or manual??

Keep the fuel supply there and you can actually run quite a bit on a stock internal VG. There are guys pulling 300, 400, even 500 whp on stock internal VG30E's.

Detonation is the quickest killer so definitely have a good fuel system. As for the aftercooler I would put it up front instead of under the vehicle to make sure you get good airflow through the cooler.

Thanks for the replys guys. I guess I will look to run the intercooler upfront. The truck is body lifted now, so now I have a lot more room to run piping. You are the same two guys that have helped me with the injectors. Thanks so much. Im thinking maybe with some 440cc's and the 255lph pump. I may be able to use my 14psi spring....

Do you guys have any idea how much I should retard the timing? Any opinions on the MSD 6AL with the boost sensor that automatically retards timing???

300HP for me here in the Hawaiian sand would be amazing!

BTW... Yes the truck is manual... The turbo is a Borg Warner full T04. .70A/R cold. .81A/R hot.

Also...Are all or most of the nissan in tank fuel pumps the same??? I have a 255lph walbro that was listed for early 90's maxima, sentra, and 240... of course Hardbody is not gonna be listed under application...

I'm not too good with the ignition timing yet, as far as tuning goes, so I'm not much help there. I know the MSD 6AL is pretty good. I actually have one myself but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I do know that you'll need the tach adapter to make it work (MSD part number 8910 if I remember correctly).

As for the fuel pump, if its an in-tank pump its pretty likely that you can make it work in there. In the kit I got for my Maxima they just basically had a pad, zip tie, and a rubber piece for the bottom if I remember correctly. The main thing to watch for that I can think of would be the "sock" that goes on the bottom of the pump that sits in the gas. Just make sure the one that goes on the Walbro pump drops down the same amount as the stock one.

Ok Gentlemen. gonna aim to run my 14psi spring, 255plh pump, z32 370cc injectors or aftermarket 400s maybe,...I have an apexi SAFC2. You guys think that is sufficient to tune? I can easily get a Greddy eManage. Heard a lot about nistune and MS, but I am not familiar with either.Any suggestion?

S-AFC won't be enough for the 370's. It can adjust fuel +/- 50% and the 370's are more than 50% larger than the stock injectors. I highly recommend going the Nistune route as it will be the absolute best tuning method for the VG and is quite inexpensive for what you get, comparable to even the piggy back units.

It takes a bit more work but the results will definitely pay off and, when you get completely addicted to the boost and want more, will allow you to easily tune for more.
