Hey guys how much boost can I run on the oem head gasket on a rb26? Right now I have stock turbos and high boost is 1 bar. I am thinking about 2860-5 or a single borg warner efr. Just trying to get my ducks in a row.
thanks

It depends more on if you change the head studs out for ARP's. The stock head gaskets are pretty solid in these engines.

Another thing you have to remember is that boost has no relation to the head gasket holding. In the end it is a wear and tear item. Also, different turbos have different flow ratings. One bar on stock ceramic turbos compared to the same pressure on a GT35R is the world of difference in power output since the larger single can flow more. The head gasket itself has been known to dance and prance in the 500hp bracket without a hitch for the lucky guys. It can blow out prematurely from stretched or loose head bolts, or it can just disintegrate from old age and long usage also. As Darius mentioned, put some ARP's in and keep that softy gasket clamped down can help a lot if it's still in good shape.
