7psi is cool but u also have to take into consideration mileage cylinder leakage compression and oil pressure, but its a tough little motor, heck it came with forged steel conecting rods.

Your consistantly spreading bad information dude.

The stock rods are shot peened, not forged.

Sorry for the thread jack, but the topic is right along the lines of something I wanted to find out.

Is that 7psi with stock injectors and ECU?

If injectors and ECU required, what would be the best route to go i.e. injector size, and ECU replacement/flash/add-on chip?

Right now I'm having fun with a big diesel so haven't done much reading on the 240 electronic mods.

Thanks for any answers, sorry again about the jack.

Ok, I saw some responses in this thread that really show how immature some people are. I expect everyone on these boards to behave slightly better. If you want to act like a self pompous bastard, please go to Fresh Alloy. I will not tolerate it.

Aaron, you will need to up the size of the injectors. I don't recall the size that KAs come with stock as I primarily deal with SRs, but anything around the 370cc (SR/Z32 injector) and higher will get you safely to 7 psi. I would personally go with a set of 555cc injectors to give you plenty of headroom. Also, upgrading the MAF would be a good idea since you'd have to reflash the ECU (if you weren't going standalone or using a piggy back)

There should be plenty of KA-T threads in the KA-T forum to get you an idea of what the average builder is using for their setups.

For cost purposes, I'd actually recommend going with top feed injectors. Their cheaper, still deliver a good spray pattern, and if one breaks, you're not out a ton of money. MSD is top of my list for top feed injectors right now.

Ok, im planing on doing the same to my ka, personally i see 5psi as a start but for 7psi i would run the stock sr injectors. I seen it done worked fine, plus if you have the funds go E-manage or safc, thats my 2 cents

With supporting upgrades I've seen people run 7-10 psi safely. It all depends on the tune and the condition of the engine, though (compression / etc). A reflashed ECU with a piggyback for slight tweaking should do the trick.

Heck, there are some people running stock block 350+ whp KAs over on KA-T. You should read up there if you're serious about doing it.

This is the setup I ran surprisingly reliably for 2 1/2 years but I don't recommend it:

• Top mount Garrett T04B• Turbonetics wastegate w/7psi spring• R33 front mount• 2.25'' hot/cold pipes• Bosch recirc BOV• 3'' turbo back• Trust fuel pressure regulator• Stock ECU• Stock MAF• Stock injectors• Stock fuel pump• Stock plugs• Retarded dizzy timing 5 degrees

I'm running a new setup now but even the above mentioned sketchy setup put me side by side with SR's with full bolt-ons @ 12psi and I was only at 7psi. I easily pulled from stock SR swaps like they were N.A. KA's. On the track, there was more than enough torque to bust 285/30/18's loose even with heavy *** Advan gen 2 wheels through the corners...also chirping 3rd and at times 4th in a straight line. All on a healthy bone stock KA24DE with 179 - 180 compression.

I'd err on the side of safe, keep it at 7psi until you can invest in injectors, fuel pump, engine management (an SAFC will suffice if you're on an extreme budget), wideband, etc. As a matter of fact, don't boost until you get any of the above mentioned.

Keep in mind if you're turbo and boosting 1psi (let alone @ zero on your boost gauge), you're KA is still more powerful than another KA in similar health (compression) due to an increase in VE (Volumetric Efficiency) since the turbo is helping the motor breathe better. 12psi without any tuning is asking for busted ring lands but a KA will hold 12psi if tuned well.

Good luck.
