we're trying to design a turbo kit that'll run on stock everything and most applications can handle around 5-7 psi on stock stuff.. i'm guessing the ecu can handle this but i just want to make sure

ECU doens't care how much boost you run...

...but the timing curve is pretty aggressive.

...

Assuming you're using some garden variety T3/T4:

4-5psi is perfectly safe with stock ECU, stock base timing. Needs bigger injectors or an FMU.

6-7psi, I'd knock the base timing back 1 degree. FMU is starting to be too crude for fuel control here...injectors and S-AFC are a bare minimum.

8psi needs a couple degrees of base timing knocked off...and that'll almost max the MAF and 370cc injectors.

9psi...you've maxed all the basic + cheap turbo KA stuff (stock MAF, 370cc injectors, and timing is TOO aggressive for long term reliability).

Anything above 10lbs...you MUST get a retuned ECU, standalone, or piggy-backs like a MSD BTM or eManage.

if you dont use a hacked MAF you need a piggy back like a SAFC or an e-manage. also you'll probably need to retard timing a few degrees. but yes 370's can handle 8psi on a t3/t4 just fine

As ^^^ said...you need a Hacked MAF or S-AFC for 370s on a stock ECU. I made the comments above with reference to timing, not fuel.

Couldn't you run 10psi with a Z32 MAF, 440cc injectors, and a SAFC2?

ive seen people on the forums run 8psi on stock injectors and 12:1 FMU. is this bad to do this? if you can run this, would i have to knock back timing? how many degrees?

i already explain how people use 12:1 FMU's...just buy a 8:1 disk if you plan to use it, 7:1 would be ideal IMO..and it's about 5 degrees for 8psi...i would do 6 degrees since i only have 91 octane

5 degrees for 8 psi????? that's a lot... i've always heard the stock timing will do fine until 8 psi then you knock it back 1/2 a degree for every lb of boost over 8 psi... so if i were to run 10 psi with an fmu and stock ecu i would knock the timing back a degree or maybe 2 to be safe... i am running an 8 lb entry level setup and i left my timing at just a hair below 20 degrees + (stock timing), and it runs great, i've had no problems with that at all...

I'd say stock timing is fine for 4psi...then retard half a degree for every PSI.

8psi should be plenty safe with 18* BTDC base timing.

stock injectors/stock ecu and all that are generally trusted to no more than 8 psi WITH an fmu as fuel setup... that's what i have right now, and have had for a while. there are very few people who run more than 8 psi with an fmu setup.

7psi is ok on stock injectors, stock ecu..just run a walrbo pump...import ant has that on his car...and his car runs rich.

and hysteria is right...1/2 degree of retard every pound of boost AFTER 8psi...stop being so conservative...you WILL be fine.
