Ho wmuch boost are you guys running on stock ignition? I have had problems ,It sounds kinda too rich, or blowing spark out sound ,like a rev limiter sound sometimes ,not all time ,I have built up motor , jim wolf set up, wide band , numbers get into 11.1-10.6 ,when it is doing it. at anything above 12lbs . anything lower, fine. i have stock ignition , what do you guys think? I have a jacobs ignition ice pak for car but have not put on. Or could it be something else ? also how can I pressure check the manifold and intercooler while it is car for leaks. I don't think it is aleak but I will check ,my vaccum idle is at 17 -19 .

I am running the nissan ngk plug jim wolf reccomended , gapped at .42. I am running big kahuna T4-To4 turbo and is it possible to blow out the stock ignition at 11-12 lbs? please read info up top . I would like to solve the issue , it sucks when you have complete forged internals, 72lbs injectors big map ecu tuned jim wolf setup and you can;t blow on some big boost!! the runs great other than that!! my wide BAND A/F ARE GOOD BUT CLOSE TO 11-10.6 IN BIGGER BOOST.

jim wolf told you to run a .042" gap? thats weird. did Ben tell you this?when i was running between 8 psi and 12 psi, i gapped mine at .030".now i run 18 psi around town (similar setup to you) gapped at .025". At 24 psi, my spark was blowing out with .028" gap so thats why i lowered it down (for convenience factor of those bi-weekly 24 psi runs!)

I think JWT recommended the plug brand, not the actual gap

although I wouldn’t be surprised if they did…

on a side note:

mike

The lag isnt too bad I hit full boost about 3900 rpm but then all the way up to 6900-7000 it hits hard with that turbo , even though it is big, it spools fast and nice. the jimwolf cams help that fast pull also.

So you guys think regapping might help, I will try that. But can you guys tell me how far or how much boost will the stock ignition run before it is faded out of umph!Do most of you have ignition issues beyond cetain boost?

How good is the stock nissan ignition?to what boost levels?hey KLAtter , Do you have jim wolf ecu or stand alone to run 24 psi? or 18 daily driven? what internals and ecu ,injector set up do you have and how many miles has it lasted?

I had similar problems and brought the gap down to .025" and it seems much better.

stock ignition will work fine unless you are trying to boost to 30 psi. I run the exact same fuel setup as you (jwt ecu, cobra mafs, 72lb injectors). I use Ross pistons, Crower rods and JWT cams. Its lasted a year so far (15,000 miles or so). Put your gap at .028" for now. If you decide to boost over 22 psi or so, then put it at .025". This has worked for me.check my homepage for my setup:http://www.ka-t.org/klattr1
