Hey everyone, first post here. It's time for me to get rid of my current car, and I've been looking at the Altima coupe as a replacement. I figure my trade-in is worth about $3500, so I'll trade it in with no additional down payment. For a 36 month lease, lowest mileage allowed per year (I rarely crack 6k a year), and $3500 down, what kind of monthly payments might I expect on a basic S coupe with no frills? Thanks in advance

Sorry I bought my car and I would recommend the same. Atleast have the stealership run the numbers and before you sign anything, then you can post the info hear and I am sure some people can help. But if you plan on doing any work to the car then a lease is not a very good choice.

nissanusa payment estimator puts you at 297. you could do better than that at the dealer.

Don't put any $$$ down if you're leasing!!! You'll never see that money again (unless you're planning on a buyout at the end of the lease)

+1!!!!

You could end up with a payment near what you are paying on a lease to own the car, and in the end you own the sucker. Definatly don't put money down if you aren't required to...

++1!!! Tossing money down the toilet.

Better to put that money in the bank and use it to suppliment a littlehigher payment. Then if your car gets totalled, you still have the money in the bank.

True but it depends on your lease. If the lease is less than 2 years, then yeah it doesnt make sense to put money down. For long term leases, it does make sense to put money down. 3 Years is a long time and you never know what your financial situation might be, so lowering your monthly payments is a smart idea.

The only risk to putting money down on a lease is if your car is totalled. If the car is written off you will be out the cash you put down. Any money you put down on a lease or finance will lower your monthly payment, and saves you interest in the end.

I am leasing my 08 coupe ($30k). I traded in my leased 06 pathfinder ($35) 3 years early for my coupe. At 6 years, my payments are $468/month with $1500 down. A little high, but eh, I wanted the car and I save $100 a month is gas payments.

I'll never keep the car for 6 years anyway. I like to have new cars every couple of years.

only lease if you dont plan on keeping the car for long. other than that its better to buy it IMO. i dont like the idea of leasing because you never really feel like you own the car.

I'm leasing for 39 mo. 3.5 premium I only put $500 down to cover the taxes. I'm paying $435/mo I had $3000 to put down. I decided that if the carwas totalled I'd be dumb to put the 3000 down to save $75 in paymentsSo I take $75 out each month to suppliment the actual lease price. Itall works out to the same, but if the car is totalled I still have my moneyand I didn't lose it in the lease.

Dude, you are leasing a car for 6 years. It doesn't matter if you won't keep it that long or not. The total cost of that lease is $35,196! That's more expensive than if you had purchased a loaded 3.5 with tax, title, & interest.

To the original poster, please do not reference this as a gauge for a lease deal. This may be the worst raping I have ever heard by a dealership.

I also I traded in my Pathfinder so I had to roll in about 5k. So that put the car at $35. If I would have purchased that, may payments would have been $580 for 6 years at 6% interest. So I saved more then $100 a month.

The only thing I care about is the lowest monthly payment. I will never keep it for 6 years, I will probably keep it 2-3. When the warranty runs of at either mileage or time, I will trade it in. At most I would have spent $16,848 for the car.

Yes I will always be up side down and yes I will always be paying for a car, but I see it as I will be paying for a car either way. Whether in maintenance or repairs. I always want to have a new car, so it's the price that I'm willing to pay.

Yes the dealer could have done better, but it was in the price range I was willing to pay and I wanted the car.

Wealthy people mindset is how much is the total cost.

Poor people care about the monthly payment. You're justmaking your life way hard for the future. The "I'll always beupside down in my cars" comment is the comment of someonewho will declare bankruptcy in the next 3 years. You're in for a world of hurt.
