so ive been saving up for awhile now and am gettin close to being able to order a CA. i was just wondering what you guys usually spent after the swap was all said and done. i just need some insight on how much its going to actually cost me to do the swap correctly. what are somethings that are normally replaced when doing the swap? any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

if you really wanna do it right and you have the aptitude, you may as well do your timing belt before you drop it in. Front and rear main seals are also a good thing to do. Check your bearings before you drop it in, its an old engine and known to have problems with bearings, mostly because of the age. Check your clutch too....which youll do when youre doing the rear main anyways.

All of these things are good things to check and known failure items.

good luck ..

Cost me a little over $2k once I had everything to put it in. Keep in mind, that included maintenance items, exhaust, gauges, fuel pump, intercooler and some other misc items.

It really depends on if you want to start upgrading right away or not. I would highly recommend getting the engine running as close to stock as possible before throwing parts at it. C-rads estimate is pretty close to what it should cost, which is around the 2k mark. Assuming that you do all of your own work though.

2500$ here. That included the cost of the engine/trans/ecu, rebuild kit, FMIC, Nismo FPR, downpipe, o2pipe, electric fans, manifold and BOV. If you do all your own work you'll save and learn tons.

yea i will be doing all the work. sometimes it bugs me when other people work on my cars, but thats usually only if i dont have the right tools. i know i have alot to learn since im kinda new to nissans so im getting excited to start this project. ive read the "where did you get yours" thread in teh RB forum, but is there anyone here that might have some more good reputable places that sell CA's?

oh and jiggy i saw that you bought a rebuild kit, where did you buy that from?

thanks for the info guys

I bought my rebuild kit from an engine rebuilding shop that my garage does business with. I was going to order it online but wasnt getting answers to my emails after a week and was getting angry.

i am looking at around 1900 with a stage one centerforce clutch, equal length manifold, sr-t25, new timing belt, thermostat.....pretty much the essentials... o yeah make sure your set comes with an injector resistor or make sure you buy one.....it can bug the hell out of you if you forget it....trust me i know......email me if you have any questions....and make sure you get the stock turbo looked at/ rebuilt.....they are known to be crap when you buy the set.......
