Machine work depends on location.Cutting the crank to spec could run from $80-$180Boring and honing could run from $20-$50 a bore.I suggest you ask around preferably guys with built engines for recommended machinists. Then go in and ask for estimates and see for yourself what kind of work is done. Don't call on the phone. Go in and ask. This way you will see what conditions your engine will be worked on. Cleanliness of shop, equipment available etc. etc.If you are serious about the build, after you receive the block, re-measure and verify all clearances. Tedious, boring and very time consuming. But it pays off in the end. Or take your stuff to another machine shop and have them measure for you.Flush out all oil passages and water jackets to get out any grime and honing slur. You would be surprised at what comes out. Cleaning kits with assorted brushes are available at most parts stores, though some places may have to special order them. Summit Racing has everything you would need for under $40 I think. Its been a while.Wipe down all machined surfaces with ... I can't think of what its called, but a special oil that prevents rust from forming. And lastly use a good torque wrench and follow all torquing proceedures and values.
