My mom is looking to buy a 08 versa sl sedan and was wondering how many suit cases you can fit in the trunk and does the back seats fold down in the sedan?

The sedan's rear seat ONLY folds down if it is the SL model. the S model has a fixed rear seat.

"how many suit cases" depends on the size and shape of them. But I've been able, in a Hatchback, to carry luggage for 4 adults for 3 days, plus a complete desktop computer system with all accessories and a small Coleman cooler, all without removing the package shelf (or storing anything on TOP of the shelf, except coats)

Thanks EV for the reply. I have the SL hatch and like you said the hatch is very versitle in loadin of suitcases.

I am hoping the the SL sedan can hold 3 medium suit cases I feel like this would be no problem.

should be no problem at all -- I've had a couple of huge suitcases in there with room to spare.

Yanno...just out of curiosity is it possible to exchange the rear seats on an S for the SL seats? anyone know? I kinda regret not getting the SL but at the time price really did matter.

Perhaps someone with an SL could verify this, but I believe part of the mechanism for the fold-down seat is built/screwed into the body itself, not part of the seat, so you can't simply change it out like you can on a hatch (where both the S and SL have fold-down seats)

If you really want to carry a lot of luggage, do like the Europeans. Get some Thule or Yakima rails/feet and one of the aero boxes to go on top and you can even take your kitchen sink on vacation. Fred

I accept zee shallange:

Because my wife has abandoned me for the long (Canada Day) weekend to "relax" in Lost Wages (she gets 4 days off, I get 2 -- figure that) I have time.

So downstairs to the car I goes . . . opens the rear door . . . lifts the lock mechanism . . . folds down the seats . . . and sees . . . on both sides . . . a latch that holds the seats in place, bolted (I'm guessing) to the frame.

Could be an easy switch-out for someone who knows what he's doing if the seats can be found at a wrecker. Or cheap new.

I have put two road bikes plus one tandem on the roof; three total, 4 people and all their cycling gear from a 2 day 18o mile ride. The car was loaded to the gills, but we crammed it all in. I would not concern myself with the hauling capability of the car.

There is a lot of room in the trunk of the sedan. When you go on a test drive, bring along some empty suitcases and see how well they fit in the trunk. Or when you go on the test drive, swing by the house and try the suitcase fitting exercise there.

Just a thought.
