Seriously, doesn't anyone read their car manuals?barry_mann wrote:When i was buying my new speakers etc the salesman said i had 6 speakers and one in the middle. Well, that is what his computer said. I could only find four. The front door speakers and the back dash speakers. i was driving to work this morning and noticed two frills up on my dash close to the windsheild. Are these speakers? If so what size so i can pick some up after work ( i am trying to buy everything so i can start installing saturday). Where is the center speaker or is there not one. If these are indeed speakers i will have to run them off the stock radio. I dont have enough channels in my amp and it looks as if they would be very difficult to re wire.
Kind of revived an old thread here for this? Any in-dash player should work. All of them on the market that I can think of are single din fold outs or double dins. With the dash kit, you can install any of these aftermarket units you want. Was there a specific model you're looking at?sterny23 wrote:QUICK QUESTION TO ANYONE OUT THERE, WHAT IN DASH DVD PLAYERS ARE COMPATIBLE FOR THE 08 ALTIMA 2.5S, PLEASE LET ME KNOW I REALLY APPRECIATE IT, THANK YOU
Personally, I think you should save up and get something brand-name. These units might be ok, but they might also go out on you in under a year. You'd have much better luck with a known brand (although it will cost more). If you really want to get something soon, and don't want to spend a lot of money, I'd recommend wandering over to some car a/v forums and checking the for sale threads (unfortunately, you're not going to find a lot of people on here selling their old head units). I don't want to plug other boards, so I'm not going to list those that I have visited. However, a number of them have people who will sell their old units at a good price. I think a used (if it is from someone who cares about car audio, it will be in good shape) Kenwood/Alpine/Eclipse/Pioneer/etc head unit will perform much better for you than any of those listed.sterny23 wrote:to be honest im not set on anything, im in college and want anywhere from a 4" screen - 7" but im not looking to spend alot of money, these are some ive looked at, what do you think

I don't think it would sound worse than the stock radio. A brand name unit would certainly sound better. I'd be more worried about the off-name brand's quality over the course of time. Plus, if you're on a budget, install the thing yourself. It seems like it would be difficult at first, but there is plenty of info on these boards to help you out. Tons of people have installed units in their cars, and taken pictures to boot. It should be somewhat simple to do it yourself. Plus, you can always ask questions here and we'll help as best we can. Check the FAQ in my signature for installation help. Tons of links to pics and instructions in there.sterny23 wrote:arent they basically all the same sound wise though, like if i brought one of these to a store and they installed it, your telling me there is a potential for it to sound worse than my stereo right now? by the way i appreciate the help
To be honest, I don't know what a shop would charge you. BB and CC have been known to terribly botch installs, so I'd never take my car there. Removing the stock stereo is incredibly simple. The pics show how to pull off the trim pieces, then it's only four screws. Also, you're in NY (where there are TONS of other altima owners), so I would say there is a pretty good chance you could get another member of this forum to give you a hand (check the link in my signature for a map with other owners and you'll see - I'd help you out but Chicago is a long way from NY). I can probably take my stereo out and put it back in in under 5 minutes. The longer part is connecting the wiring harnesses (just time consuming, not difficult). If you are dead set on having someone else install it, I'd take it to a custom audio shop (not a chain) and have them do it. They will do a much better job, but they will also charge you more (the cost of having things done right).sterny23 wrote:how much do you think it would be to install one of those, and also im worried about taking out the stock stereo
Check the exterior section. I've never taken my grille off. This also depends heavily on coupe versus sedan. The coupe has its grille connected to the entire fascia. The sedan is a completely removable grille. I know people have done it on the sedan, so I'm sure someone can help you there. A/V is probably not the best place to ask this one though.sterny23 wrote:thank you i appreciate all your help, last thing, how easy is it to uninstall stock grill and install a new one?
Dude, seriously go to http://www.crutchfield.com/ ,enter you car and you get what fits, what doesn't.sterny23 wrote:FOR ANYONE OUT THERE IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEND ME A LIST OF THE COMPATIBLE IN DASH DVD PLAYERS THAT WOULD FIT NICELY IN THE 08 ALTIMA SEDAN, THANKS ALOT
