Hi,I don't know much about cars, that's why you're reading this. I got my check engine light for like 6 months. It is due to oxygen sensor and knock sensor. I suppose that the knock sensor problem is the timing chain guide and it doesn't have that much effect on my ride (besides annoying me). My question is: how many oxygen sensors is there in 5spd 96 240sx? I've red somewhere in here, that maximas have 4 of them, so i was just wondering, is it something like that in a 240. I see one to the right in the cat in the engine bay, but when i go to autozone website and click on the part locator, they have two positions: one where i just described it is and other in: UNDER VEHICLE, DRIVER SIDE, BELOW SEATING AREA, MOUNTED IN EXHAUST PIPE IN REAR OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER

Also, when i tried to buy oxygen sensor from nissanpartswholesale com, there are 2 types of oxygen sensors for 1996:

2/1994-6/1996 and 7/1996 - I need a 3-wire sensor, but both of them appear to have 3wires...

How do i check, which one is it?Thanks for help, yooz

Your car has 2 sensors. If the Max has 4 it's cause it's a V-6 and there are 2 per bank for all cars 1996 and newer. The code should tell you if it's sensor 1 (front) or sensor 2 (rear). Not sure of the affiliation of nissanpasrtswholesale.com, but everythingnissan has a phone # you can call and ask them directly. 1-888-216-5328. Prices are awesome too, ask around to compare. Tell them you're from NICO so they keep supporting this site.Replace your knock sensor. You might be surprised at the performance gain made just by doing that.
