all i will say is that from first glance its obvious its a photochop since the lighting on the car differs from the light pattern of the background. that being said, you ve got some skills. more than most on these forums.

here's one more. I wanted to make my car glow in the dark in real life (yeah...I know...) but before doing it, I made this photoshop to see what it would look like.

p.s. I dunno why the images get resized like that lol

Mehdi,

I like your work better than Eric's, but he has a point and I'll make it too. Your PS work overlooks detail.

In the Glowing car piece, the perspectives and corresponding vanishing points don't match. There also needs to be light bleed. It's one of the aspects of glowing objects that I still haven't mastered.

Eric,

Our color spaces are all different. On my screen (24" LCD on a Graphic Design work station), your red G35 pictures look overly bright.

On Mehdi's Altima, you tweaked the curves so much that the glare isn't smooth anymore. Looks like a limited color GIF.

The "Fall" picture isn't bad. Props on getting the grass and trees to have "accurate" colors, but they are so saturated by comparison to the rest of the picture, that it looks PSed. A surface blur would have cleared up the sky too.

To Everyone,

A good photoshopped image is one that either looks real or one that keeps the viewer's attention on the real looking things instead of the adjusted ones.

I'll post up some of my work in a little while. BTW, I've done this type of work since PS 7.

Here's my rendition. A larger image and a little more time would have yielded better results. I did a sloppy cut job and had to modify a few shadows that probably look off now, but I still think the colors and gradients look better.

This is quality PSing. The rest is just FAIL:

I just spent a total of 3:30 seconds, One Jurassic 5 song. (saving the picture, booting photoshop, clicking around, saving the picture, uploading to photobucket.)

If I take my time It would look a lot better, But its sliver.

Using Color Selection or the Magic Wand, then darkening it shows you and PS need more time together.

Here's a slate gray or dark gray, whatever you want to call it. Wasn't that hard. That's maybe 5 minutes of work. With some finesse it'll look good (and a high-res version, too). Whatever you did, you took all the details out (glares, reflections, etc) which gives it a fake appearance. To change the color of something like this on a low-res photo and make it look realistic is nearly impossible.

Sentient--maybe I need an actual computer and monitor. I'm just doing this on my Thinkpad laptop, that could be why I always have someone say my pics are oversaturated because the farm looks pretty good on mine. I'll try and see if I can figure out how my monitor compares by redoing the farm and reposting.

These any better, worse, or about the same (for those who have never been to the eye doctor, now you get see what we go thru)?

Again, I'm just getting back into this so my work isn't exactly up to snuff yet as I've found out.

Hey smockers83, I've got a nice little challenge for you. The hardest thing to do in photoshop is changing cars color realistically from black to white or silver and from white to silver or black.

if you can change this white car to silver then you are a worthy to earn that 45$ plus amount you talked about earlier
I have got an even BETTER challenge for you both and I shall declare a winner based on the results that will put an end to this "battle!" Take these pics of this car... and believably recolor them to Bayside Blue as seen in the examples.

Examples:

I did a little more then just playing with the wand's. I just did it to turn the car sliver.

If i wanted to spend time I could go threw and make it look nice, but he only said turn it sliver.

you'll have better luck on photo enthusiast forums since mc here does the work you refuse and more without charging anyone a dime. with better results to boot.

PB&J,

Did you look at my version? I think mine is best. No color noise. Believable gradients...etc.

The two small pix you posted look over saturated on my screen. Not sure about anybody else's.

Addiction,

Already done on my G....Sorta... (excuse the rims please).

Yes, the lighting really was that weird. It was over cast that day and the glare on the car is what it is.

Assassin,

The point was to make it look like a silver car. Not to just change to pixels and add more black to them.

Xeene,

I must say, I am VERY impressed, that did not take very long at all either. kudos MC.

Also kudos to you Nate, very good job. But that's not quite bayside blue. Other than that, it looks very good.

I'm too lazy to actually do a good cut job. Plus HIGHER RES PHOTOS.

Yeah, I know, sorry for the lack of Hi-Res. But I took what Eric said about the earlier pics having all reflections and glares and stuff being cut out causing it to be nearly impossible to make it look real into consideration when I posted them.

I want Mehdi's Title appended to mine j/k

I don't think our skills are equal in the least bit. My silver coupe should have won. Why hasn't anybody commented? Do you all disagree?

I do agree with the silver coupe, but I also agreed with Eric, so that's why I posted the pic with reflections and glares.

The best part about doing this non-professionally on a forum - seeing how others will chop the same picture. I used to be on a forum that would have a monthly photoshop contest with 6-7 entrants. That was fun ****

I have over 10 years of experience with Photoshop; been using it since version 3 when I was in grade 9. I did all of the yearbook photo touch ups in grades 11 & 12. The only difference is I don't have any art/photography education. I PS stuff for fun (or family). I would never do it for money. Hell I even have a tablet that I bought myself simply because I enjoy chopping stuff.

Now I know no one gives a **** about that 2nd paragraph, so I digress. Maybe NiCO should have a monthly or bi-monthly photoshop contest. Maybe that way other unknown talents can get exposure as well.
