everytime i look at it, i dont like it. couldnt a plain chrome infiniti emblem from other models like j30 or any others replace the funky emblem?

i figure as long as the distance of the two bolts holding the emblem is same, it can work?

Actually, I like it - but I think I've seen a different style somewhere. Looked like the same thing but a brushed chrome look instead of the black are with the vines or whatever that is...

I doubt anything else would work without some custom engineering since the recessed area in the bumper wouldn't be filled. Aerodynamics would be of some concern with a completely different emblem too.

I like it too.

When I got my car in Dec. 99 it had a badly fading gold package. The front badge was modified by removing the infiniti logo and putting a plastic piece (painted the body color) over the entire badge and then reattaching the logo with a gold finish.

I thought it looked awful, and was lucky to find a new badge on eBay for a reasonable price.

It looked pretty weird in late 1989 when it first came out, but has definitely grown on me. Now I prefer it to the later models with the grill. Another distinctive feature of a unique car.

It's what made the early Q45's styling. This sole decoration highlighted the function over style substance of the rest of the car.

Easy to screw on and off, but hard to get the rubber seal lined up correctly again.

I say get used to it... there's very little you can do to the front end without making the car look totally ricey and tasteless.

If it were me, I'd do some bodywork - Remove the emblem, weld in a filler panel, smooth it flush with the rest of the hood. Then either leave it clean OR attach a plain chrome Infiniti oval logo in its place - That'd look sharp.

I saw one that had been removed and smoothed, and the nose had two ducts (ram air?). It looked different, but clean.

The "belt buckle" was huge design difference when the original Q was introduced. There were no other "grilless" luxury cars out there, and the emblem was a huge part of the Q's luxury perception.

Honestly, I love the buckle and wish infiniti had kept the grilless design and not headed the buick route with the second gen cars.
