i know a guy in MS that has 275k on his Q trans, regular fluid changes and no external trans cooler..

The redesign in 94 with the twin cooler obviously helped a lot.

93 Q, transmission went at 215000k miles. That was after much abuse though. Got a junkyard one for $350(125k) and it shifts like new.

I've got 110k on my 94. transmission flush every 30k, and planning a B&M flush with filter replacement at 115K. Shifts perfectly.

Yes, but only if the owner did regular maintenance regardless!

My 1995 Q45 did not have good care from the first owner ... I did regular fluid changes, including using Mobil 1 synthetic ATF after I bought the car. The transmission still died at about 104k miles (4k after the extended warranty ran out!) even though I did a full double flush at 90k miles.

Layla's transmission was damaged in an accident at 103K when I bought her. The rebuilt transmission ($1,900) lasted another 140K before I sold her. It was time for a new one. She didn't like cold weather. I did regular flushes and used regular transmission fluid.

Lola had 97K on her when I got her. She had Amsoil synthetic fluid in her transmission. I have put 40,000 miles on her, and done zero maintenance on the transmission. She shifts fine, but is starting to show signs of the TC clutch burn-out. Harder shifts under low power, and much softer shifts under full power. I can feel and hear the TC lock and unlock all the time (especially now that i have the louder exhaust). I would expect another 75K out of it if I wasn't replacing it.

I am in the process of having a custom built transmission for her done and a high-stall converter.

The new converter and transmission will last to lifetime of the car, because I will be retiring her to weekend duties, once I get my new M45.

Of course, I don't know how much damage will be done while Thomas Knight is installing the SC, and getting the ECU dialed-in.

Oops! I said too much!

213,390. No Runs, No Drips, No Errors. I assume it's original, since 2nd gear needs a bit of a push, but doesn't slip. As long as there are no jack rabbit starts (In Atlanta traffic? FUGGABOUTIT!!). Fluid clean, not burnt.

I plan on having T-3 Auto here check it out, and drop the pan (preventative maintenance).

55k on my first Q, replaced with factory reman.79k on my second Q, rebuilt.

Pretty much a crap transmission until you add a cooler. Thankfully the engine is the sweetest thing ever.

My 2nd [50k-235k] in my Q is still shifting ok in it's new home [4 years later] with 234k in total but it got pristine synthetic care in mine for first 185k.

That unit has worked for 12.4 years except for 3 months awaiting the transplant. It only cost the new owner 2 cents per mile in 4 years [$1000] for 49k.

Should have saved it as a spare as my 3rd has 75k on it now.

Which will fail first the 310k engine or the 75k transmission?

Thanks for the update, Dennis!

I could have replied 85K, 87K, and 62K, still shifiting like new, but what good would that do, except validate your maintenance regime, M1 ATF and the auxiliary ATF coolers?

Jeff, met a soon to be new to the board FY33 owner who owns a a BG shop, and he is going to run Amsoil synthetic ATF. But I didn't know how to advise him on Lube Guard Red as I don't know how Amsoil ATF compares to M1 ATF.

Any ideas from your experience?

Look at page 12 in above for History of Sperm Whale oil and endangered species act of 72 and how synthetics were developed from JoJoba oil then rapeseed, now gentically modified sunflower oil.
