I've been hunting around my area (new orleans) for an s14, but they're pretty hard to come by around here.

I plan to use it as an everyday vehicle (school and back, out, etc). I found a 95 240sx se in the paper, and I plan to go look at it. The only drawback is that it has 134k miles... and no mention of a rebuilt motor or anything so I feel its safe to assume its the same one.

In your opinion, should I bother buying it with that many miles on it? I don't plan to be swapping engines anytime soon.

Should I wait it out for another? Should I try my luck with this engine? Or maybe try to take down a bit on the price so that I can afford another if this one starts spazzing on me.

your thoughts?

If its well maintained and had decent oil changes, it can easily last for many years yet.

Properly maintained Nissan engines routinely go over 200k miles.Use it as a haggling point.

It all depends on previous maintanence. My car has 105k miles on it and is a 96. It runs better (well basically the same as it was perfect to begin with :) ) then when I got it with 28k on it 3 yrs ago. About the only thing I do on time in my life, is maintain my 240 :)

Since day one every 3k miles (3100 max) I change the oil with an OEM nissan filter and mobil 1 synth. Every 15k I swap out the fuel filter. Every 30k I change the filter in my slushbox transmission and fill it up wiht 4.8 - 5 quarts of mobil 1 synth atf, likewise (minus filter of course) in the diff with mobil 1 synth gear oil (75w 90 IIRC). I clean my air filter with every oil change, mainly because its covered with 1/4" of junk from my true ram air setup though. I do all the other mainanince items as well on time.

Like I said I have a 104k mile engine that runs like new. Some people have 100k mile engines that have all kinds of problems because of lack of routine things.

This think will go another 200 no problem, Im sure of it. Mabey even with the next mod whitch will be a conservative 8 psi FI setup pieced together, and with proper fuel precautions.

Like I said though, for some odd reason the only time Im on time is for my 240.

Im always late for everything else.

hehe but everywhere I go late its in a top notch car hehe

ALWAYS....i assume you have cash? depending on what they are asking for the car, i'd offer a little less then what i'm willing to pay. and remember the "asking price" is always higher than the "selling price" ie. if they are asking 6000 for it and you offer up $5000 cash right then and there.......90% of the time they will take it. take your extra $$$$ and start a savings account for the swap.
