What's up everyone? Had my 240 for about a year now,the ka24de is a great engine. My odometer stopped working when I got the car so I estimate about 147k on the clock. How many miles does your ka24de have? Did any one of you have big issues pass the 200k mark? Of course maintenance is key which I'm anal about. I change my oil every 3 months and practically gave it a tune up already..baby the hell out of my car. I have my moments where I gun it on the freeway but who doesn't? Share your stories.

After the 200k mark, my car started to rattle and squeak, especially around the dash area.

Motor, transmission, and diff will handle 300k easily with proper maintenance. I drive my KA hard too, just to slow down the coking process. Once or twice a day, in 2nd gear, WOT till 5500 rpm and then engine brake down to 2500.

The body will not take it though, the horribly welded panels will start to become loose and your will start to creak a lot more and the frame probably won't be straight any more.

Then one day, you'll drive over a small pothole or a speed bump and your strut towers will fly through your hood and leave you stranded. At the same time, the rear muffler hanger will fall from rust and put a load on your manifold and eventually crack it.

Then you'll get sick from CO poisoning and unfortunately pass out and die while driving.

Haha. Yeah I notice the body tends to rust. Hopefully some body work will help aid that issue. I changed my exhaust with a catback so that takes care of that falling off part. Does the diff fluid need to be changed? Can you tell me more about the diff? All the shops tell me I don't have to change the fluid, however I feel it wouldnt hurt to change it.

My first 240 had 180k on the body and about 40k on the motor but it was in perfect condition I was the 3rd owner and it was garage kept, until I sold it. My second 240 I bought at 160k. It was a pos rusted out pile haha got it for $1300 and drove it from upstate NY all the way the Dallas, TX. For 4 months I drove it 30miles to and from work in 100 degree weather. Then drove it back to NY and sold it. The KA was a champ, the whole time it had a s*** ideal and a loud squealing sound but it still chirped 2nd gear and had plenty of power. Current car has 201k on the body and probably like 80k on the RB swap.

Nice numbers you all got there. The KA is a solid engine.

Well, mine currently has just over 205k. Unfortunately, it had some major issues with it when I picked it up(I've only gotten about 3 miles on it total since I bought it). The cylinders were scored VERY badly, the cam shaft was warn out, the injectors were all leaking, the transmission needs synchros, and it was over heating.

But, thanks to a few aftermarket parts, I should have it back on the road in a couple weeks.

My first 240sx was a '90 with a ka24e, which I think is a more responsive motor and had about 260,000 miles when I sold it. It smogged super clean too. I have a 1991 one with a ka24de now. The odometer was broken reading 130,000 or so when I got it a few years ago and the seller told me it really had about 150,000, who knows. The best thing about the 240sx is its reliability, well that and the design of the car. Try and keep it parked out of the weather if you can.

Chassis got 200k plus. Motor no clue, it was junkyard motor when I brought it with 130k on chassis.. Motor lasted about 60k before the head gasket blew. Now, top end has been rebuilt. Stronger than ever!!! Hopefully it will last another 200k.

my 1990 240 originally had a single slammer with 160k on it..after a few motors sliding and racing..my new Ka24de-t has a whopping 380k on it..but fresh build and bore. the chasis has been damaged here and there with all metal repairs done with a welder..slight bondo work just to smooth things..its a great platform..affordable..and the KA is a fantastic motor to work with..verry forgiving unlike the SR ..thats my 2 cents :)

Why so much hate for the body? Do you park it in a swimming pool, or something? I have creaks, but from things like bushings. The strut towers and unibody are rock solid, other than cosmetic crunches.

As for my motor, it's got about 208k on it. 120-ish compression, various other problems, all seals shot and leaky, burnt rings and valve stem seals, have to run very thick oil to avoit literal smoke clouds, all that good stuff. Still my only car and daily driver (obviously, given the proceeding statement), drives fine, is waiting for me to strike it rich and have the time to make it look and run right. Pulls hard, considering the circumstances.

I've had my coupe for about 7yrs now. I have 205k on it now...had 140k when I bought it. I started a thread a while back called "200k club!". Check it out and you'll see some pics. Beleive it or not, I only paid $500 for it!
I love my car! Its never left me stranded and i've never had ANY major issues!
