was just curious to how low the actually compression would be if you were to put de pistons in a e block?

im replacing a bent rod in my kae block and got 4 stock rods with pistons from a altima ka24de.

Im planning to put this into my datsun 510 and running boost as well. My only problem with a ka motor will be its high torque. I wouldn't be able to hook up, especially if im running a 4.11 rear end and my car only ways about 2000lbs. So I was just thinking if the compression isn't too low with the de pistons, that this would help me hook up off boost then when boost finally comes in it'll be all good. And if torque drops a little low it wouldn't be too bad cause I can take advantage of the 4.11 gears to compensate for the loss of torque at the start.

Does all this jiberish make sense???

iirc, your compression would drop to 7:1.

unless you're shooting for some very big numbers with very big boost, there's absolutely no reason to drop this low.

Eh, it'll be driveable. We had a Subaru RX here for a while, and the stock compression ratio on that engine was only 7.4:1. It had a small turbo that boosted only 5psi, and it wasn't super duper fast to spool either, but it was very driveable off boost.

If you want to run compression that low, you can do it- but to really take advantage of it, you'll want to boost enough to need aftermarket pistons. The power levels you could get with a static compression that low on pump gas would probably kill a set of OEM cast pistons in no time.

wow... 7:1 is too low, i'll just keep the kae pistons. I'm only aiming for about 220hp at the wheels. That much power in a datsun 510 equals lots of fun!!:ylsuper

DE pistons in an E drops compression.

so I take it ppl use these for boost? Or do they stay with the same pistons? Or just go aftermarket forged?
