I'm currently making a car budget for a SR 240 I plan to buy next year.

I have been researching exhausts for a while now and I have decided I'd like to get the blitz nur spec r catback. I love its nice deep tone and the overall quality of the system. When I look at reviews online I always notice that people say its extremely loud. I'd like an exhaust that is loud but not so loud that it becomes annoying and I regret getting it.

So how loud is it? Watching videos on youtube does not really help and I dont have any locally. It would be great if someone could tell me how loud it is in db (using an spl meter) at idle and when reving. If not what would it compare to? Can you have a normal conversation in the car? Does that silencer help at all? I would prefer to hear from those that have it on a Sr20det but any feedback is appreciated.

I have the Blitz Nurspec R exhaust on my S14, and I must say. . . It is unbelievable. While idling, it has such a throaty deep tone. And while driving and at any RPM's, it sets alarms off like crazy (mostly when going from 2000-3000 rpm's). The look is also aggressive as hell.

But the thing to remember from all this is the deep quality tone. . . It's so deep, I've received multiple comments saying my car sounds like a V8 (and I have the KA24DE engine). I've also had a comment saying my car sounds like a WRX. Just the other day, my buddy came over, and he drives a BMW, and is also a BMW fan boy, and while over, he asked me to turn on my "ricer". So after turning it up, and revving it up, he shat his pants. He said it sounds amazing. After that, he took back his insults. He was so impressed, he took a video with his iphone.

But anyways, I've been meaning to take a video of the exhaust with my $800 camera, and posting it up for all of you guys. I need to get on it.

EDIT: Oh, and to answer your question, the Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust comes in at 91 db at moderately high rpm's :chuckle:

91 db? Wow thats perfect. So talking to people and listening to music isn't much of a problem? Also how much db do you think the silencer reduces?

The reason I posted the thread is cause I was having trouble deciding between the blitz and the hks hi power but from what you said it really seems like a great choice. Setting off those alarms must be awesome haha.

Talking to people and listening to music is perfect. With the silencer on, I think I was hitting about 86-87 db. But I don't recommend putting the silencer on (it makes it sound somewhat weak, as if you're dulling the sound by up to 20%).

An exhaust is an exhaust. They may tweak the overall sound a little, but most will sound close to the same if they're the same design. I guarantee you could barely tell the difference from this guy ^'s Blitz to a comparable muffler shops job with the same style muffler/resonator.

That being said, if I ever got an exhaust from a non-local muffler shop, it would definitely be BRM. The construction is much better and you're supporting the Nissan community.

Well, fellow Nico member Asoomal has the BRM exhaust on his S13, and I must say. . . Comparing both in person, the Blitz exhaust sounds totally unique, and seems to have a better quality tone to it. . . And to me, the construction is better than the BRM. :chuckle:

Have you compared both in person? Or you're just talking out of you fanny? :nono:

Actually, I HAVE heard both in person.

As advertised, the BRM is a quiet, deep toned, exhaust that uses a baffle style muffler and long resonator. It doesn't have the typical annoying drone you get with a straight through setup.

As far as the Blitz, it's a typical resonator/can combo. I get compliments on my exhaust all the time and all it is is an average resonator/can combo done at a muffler shop. And mine's only 2.5" in diameter.
