I always switch car companies. I did not realized that till I've got my G.I actually never owned 2 cars from the same company before. Right after the other one. Just recently my wife asked me what will I get after the G. I change cars every 2-3 years. I told her it is early to say it. I don't even own the G for a year. But she told me she never seen me so happy with the car till now. I guess she is right. So I've been thinking maybe another G or maybe the GT-R. I heard it will be the same AWD system what I have. I am not sure about the price of it and if I am willing to pay that much. So I was thinking about you guys.

What's your next move from your car ? How long you plan to keep your car?

I don't know. I'm always really enamored with whatever car I have for the first year to 18 months, and then I tend to want something else and often get something else within 2 years - not good on the wallet. Right now, I love the G, and I can't imagine finding something else that has as good a compromise of performance, handling, features and price in the next 2 years, but the problem is that there are so many nice cars out there these days. I wish I could have 4 or 5 of them.

I like the BMW 335i (preferably the coupe from a looks perspective), but hate BMW's customer service and attitude. The Audi S4 (also the S5 when it comes out), and the Golf GTI are both very nice, but the Golf probably has terrible reliabilty based on VW's recent offerings. I'm looking forward to seeing Acura's next TL which should have SH-AWD. If it performs to it's potential based on my owning an Acura MDX with SH-AWD, and having test driven the existing TL, it should be kick ***, and very reliable. If the G37 sedan is out in a year or two..., that may be interesting since it's fuel consumption is apparently better than the G35 despite the additional HP. I think I'd like ultimatly to stay with japanese cars from now on unless there is a very good reason to move back to European...

I love my G, but I'm torn...I could spend another truck load of dough on another car, or spend say $30k on my G and send it to VRT to be turned into a TT.

If I went to another car, I guess it would either be a GT-R or the new Audi S5 (when it comes out).

My current car is a 23-year-old Mazda RX-7. Next move is to buy something better. "Better" means faster, better handling, quieter and more comfortable than the RX-7. I plan to keep it for 20 to 30 years until I'm too old to drive anything but a wheel chair. The top candidate is an Infiniti G37.

Cars I have tried and rejected are:

2007 Porsche Cayman. Adequately fast and handles extremely well. Cannot tolerate for a day-long drive because seats are too hard and there is too much interior noise from engine and tires. Only remedy for flat tire is can of fix-a-flat and 12 volt compressor.

1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 2. Adequately fast. Handles well, but more understeer than Cayman. Seats softer and engine quieter. Still too much tire noise. The example I drove had several rattles.

2001 Porsche 911 AWD Turbo. Noticeably faster than anything else, but turbo lag ruins throttle response. Handles as well as Cayman. Steering so sensitive that I could feel road surface texture. Seats OK but too much engine and tire noise.

2008 Audi TT Quattro with V6 and DSG transmission. Adquately fast. All wheel drive mostly makes up for nose-heavy weight distribution. Great seats. Choppy ride due to short wheel base. Cabin somewhat claustrophobic. DSG good but I still prefer manual transmission.

2007 Audi A4 Quattro with V6. Didn't drive one since dealer only stocks automatics. Somewhat slow due to all-wheel-drive hardware. Comes with five full-size wheels and tires.

2004 BMW 330xi sedan. Slow due to all-wheel-drive hardware. Quiet, sweet-sounding engine. Tire noise well muffled. Ride surprisingly choppy for a 104 inch wheel base. Hard seats.

2000 BMW 328Ci coupe. Not quite as fast as Porsches or Audi TT, but adequate. Seats comfortable but a bit too low. So quiet and soft that driver feels isolated; would need aftermarket bars, shocks and exhaust to stiffen handling and provide more audible feedback.

2007 BMW 328i coupe. Didn't drive one since dealer only stocks automatics. (I thought BMWs were drivers' cars!) BMW suspension now tuned for run-flat tires which I don't want.

2004 & 2005 Infiniti G35 6MT coupes. Very good in all four criteria. Only complaint is tire noise over expansion joints. Tempted to buy 2004 model with premium and navigation packages since it had only 4k miles. Decided to wait for G37 since it should be even better.

Man to me the Lexus is overpriced. I am not sure what the GT-R will be. I never looked deep enough in any car yet. That was my point with this thread to get some ideas. So I can start looking at my options. Next year I'll move to another house. A year after I should be good to switch or look for another one. Because I switch to other car every 2-3 years it's important to find a car what holds the value. Since I am really picky hard to find a good car.

i barely got my sedan this janurary..depending on what price i could get the g37 and if i dont get boinked in the negative equity..i might do it. my car is leased..i was plannin on keeping this car for a while..since all the hype started with the g37.. i started looking into it. hopefully its not too much..most likely ill be getting it next year after march when the prices have settled and best oart is i convinced my bro to get one..so buying 2 cars should give us the edge for negotiating for a deal lol

Keeping G until it doesn't run anymore (if I'm lucky, maybe get another 7 years or so out of it). But I'm searching for a 2006 corvette to buy next summer. That way I can get my speed fix, and still keep a 4 door luxury car. I want the Z06 but I don't want to spend $75k, so I'm buying convertible (Z06 doesn't come in convertible), then I'm supercharging it so it'll more or less be a convertible Z06. Overall save about $20k, and get a convertible. I'm definitely excited, but I'm still modding G the rest of the way.

Beleive it or not I was thinking about the same idea. Once I move I'll get a house with 2 garages( I can have place for 4-5 cars) and get a coupe or convertible for summer. Now I only able to hold 2 cars. Convertible is not the best option here tho because we only have few months good weather for convertibles. I guess time will tell.

Throwing a supercharger on a non-Z06 vette will not make it a Z06!! There are many improvements to the car besides a HP bump! They WILL flame you if you post this on vette forums...

oh no, I understand that. I was referring to primarily the HP. To turn it into a complete Z06 it would need suspension upgrades, new ECU, performance modifications, brakes, tires, and not to mention 1 extra liter. But you don't buy a corvette for anything other than speed, so a S/C would get me almost to Z06 speed, and the performance parts (tires, brakes, suspension, etc) could be added later or not at all. My primary beef with the Z06 is it doesn't come in convertible, this is my way of correcting that problem. I'm not such an enthusiast that I'll freak out about not having high end suspension, thats why I don't mind doing it this way.

I have been driving an Infiniti model of some sort since 1991 ... love the performance and value of these cars! See here for my car buying history.

So, I will probably get another Infiniti the next time around. Although the GT-R looks nice as a possibility too! At least, it will be in the "family"!

Never was a fan of Nissan, until my wife gave me her '01 Maxima. I was hooked after that. I really LOVE these cars. I now have the G, and will keep it. Some of you will laugh, but the G35 is my dream car. Not too often that a guy can own his dream var, so I will have it for a long time. I do plan nto do a lot of mods to it, but all in due time.

Next car... many years from now...G37? Or by then, hopefully they have a G37TT. That would be the sheit.

I remember the Ford Fiesta, Opel Rekord. They were actually pretty cheap car to maintain for everyday drive.

nice list I can't even remember what happened say 8 years ago. What car I used to drive. I kept switching cars like crazy.

That's pretty cool you own your dream car.

I am in the same shoes. I've never owned Nissan before. I owned Datsun what's turned into Nissan and owned renault 5( nissan ownes Renault) when I was in school. I have to admit I am really happy with my G. I always moded my cars. When I bought the G I told my wife I'll never change anything on it. I like the way it is. My wifey told me don't be so sure about it. I guess she was right. Here I am after 7-8 months stillen intake is installed and looking forward for the next mod.

I guess The bug is in my head forever.

Same here. My last car was a 93 G20 (loved it but it's basically dying now) and ever since they stopped those and introduced the G35s when I was in college, I promised myself that would be my first car purchase and it was :D. I've also never liked the exterior of a car like the g's..not even close.

That is true , could it be the weight? audi TT only has a 3.2L 250Hp , while the Porshe 911 3.6L flat six -- and they both weigh less than our Gs

No I think they just don't want to make it. It would take the sales from the sedanx. Just a guess.
