Miatas aren't chick cars, Miatas are flamer carsanthonyle2002 wrote:Hey, I have a white one too!! Def not a chick car. You wanna talk chick car??? VW Bug or Eos or Miata. Those are total chick cars.
You saved yourself here Marlin...your first sentance is COMPLETELY UTTERLY WRONG!!!! Every single car EVER made had a marketing and design team working VERY closely together to find the market they are shooting for. Minivans = Middleaged Women; 350Z = Middleaged Men; Caddy CTS = 50-60s Men; VW Bug = 20-30 aged Women...marlin29311 wrote:There is no such thing as a girl/guy/gay/****/flamer/asian/whatever car. Ok...huh? Toyota? What do they have? Solaris? Yea...the 09 Solaris is HOT, isn't it?ESP wrote:Honda and Toyota have had their coupes for years now and they're well established
You're so right on man. Coupes sell for more because people who buy them tend to be the gotta-have-it-now people. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I would've gotten the 3.5 Altima sedan, G37, or IS350. Funny thing is sedans are usually lighter whether it be BMW or Infiniti, which works in my favor but the aftermarket support for the G sedan and Lexus is noticeably less.Curtieson wrote:The bigger Sedan goes for thousands less...that is because the coupe has a nich market and can get what they are asking.

I never said that the designers didn't have a target market in mind when they first drew up the idea's for the car - I simply said that certian people stereotype cars against certian things which should not be done. Consider the 240sx...that was designed for secretaries, now it's stereotyped to be a "JDM DRif7 Ty73" vehicle...should it be? No, each vehicle has it's own unique abilities and styling points. Or the Honda Civic...great commuter car, but as soon as you see a spolier on it, you instantly think Ricer. Truth of the matter is that people are going to drive what they like....not because someone said they should or shouldn't.Curtieson wrote:

Your second sentance saved you a bit...these cars have this market in mind, however...they can still be driven by ANYONE that wants too. We have two 350Zs at work. One is in the handicap parking and the other is in the farthest lot to not get a scratch. Only 1 of those hit the intended market, the other is an out of market older gentleman that just liked the car.
+1 - the miata platform is one of the best racing platforms out there along with the S2000 as well.ESP wrote:
...besides, I dare any of you to out-handle a Miata on the auto-x circuit.
Thats what im saying.. lol but i do understand they do have a "Market" in which they try to sell cars.. but if car A is for grown folks, and CAR B is for young folk, and the grown person cannot afford CAR A... they go for CAR B. lol see? out side their market, but it was affordable.. People have diff reasons man.. lolmarlin29311 wrote:There is so much wrong with this thread....
There is no such thing as a girl/guy/gay/****/flamer/asian/whatever car. They're all cars, and they're all going to be driven by whoever likes them. I see chicks driving lambos, dude's with 1989 hatchbacks, and little boys and their STI's. Stereotyping a car is just plain stupid, considering the availabilty of most cars at this point in time and people's own desires and tastes.
Quite frankly, as some have eluded to, the Altima Coupe is selling quite nicely, and should certianly be around for quite some time. Consider the Accord coupe or Toyota Solara - same market segment, and they've been around for numerous years. The Altima Coupe presents a multi-segment vehile - great styling and performance, but still relatively inexpensive and more useful than a real 2 seater.
