I was thinking of replacing my air filter as part of a minor tune up job since I can't really afford a full tune up at the moment. I was just wondering how long did the OEM Filters last, and where the PCV Filter is found. I think I saw the PCV Filter, but I don't want to pull out something else and then realize I messed up.Also, if I put a K&N Filter, or an ACCEL Kool Blue filter, will my engine sound different? I know cold air intakes give off a nice sportier sound (well some of them do) but do aftermarket air filters do as well? I already know most of K&N's increased HP, and better mileage claims are pretty much fallonious. Thanks in advance

Also, where is the Mass Air Filter? I saw the maintenance guide, and the car has gone 4,000miles since I purchased it and I was wondering where it was so I could clean it, as well as the Throttle Body

Also cabin filter annually.

Stay away from non-OEM air filters unless sound is more important than longevity and performance.

So stick with OEM's, what if I just get a paper one by Beck Arnley or whatever? How much do OEM ones generally cost?

Theres a cabin filter in my car?! Where?

Luckily the Q41 [aka q45 with a smaller engine] is a little less expensive to maintain than the older 90-96 Q45 but still about $2100-$2400 per year [of 15-20k miles] will be required primarily in tires, brakes, suspension and lubs and liquids and their filters.

You may not spend this much but you should save this much as you will eventually need it, so why not save it as you drive not building up a debt that might force you to abandon the carm due to an instant shortage.

8 years old is usually the start of failures from poor previous owners lack of mainteance. You cannot fix mechanical damage and wear with new liquids.

Only about $10 from Joe. Don't downgrade to beck Arnley on anything, ever!

Thanks for Joe's linkI'm also having trouble removing the glove box to get to my cabin filter.

And guess what I found in my air filter...

A Giant dead wasp, and his nest, I threw it on the floor and smashed it and inside were about 30 or so baby wasps, Aint that something! In the older G50, we used to have, there was a wasp nest in the muffler! Nobody else's cars have had wasp nests in them except for my Q's, I guess Wasps like to nest luxuriously, instead of in the Minivan, or the Civic.

In the muffler? Truly desperate but good taste!

Look at the FSM for explicit directions. There are about 3 or 4 different threads on that very topic.

I've been replacing mine at every oil change (every 5K, or roughly 3 times a year) - simply because it obviously NEEDED changing that often.

I have NEVER seen a vehicle that could get an air filter dirty as quick as the Q!
