...installing a new cat and everything behind it? Vehicle is 1984 Suburban. I did the cat back last week and I'm doing the cat today. I've got two more weeks on my trip permit. Thanks.

I can't think of a reason to wait, unless they come with some kind of surface protectant that needs to burn off or something. An agressive 15-20 minute drive should bring the cats up to as good as they're ever going to get. Just get the cats and O2s nice and hot before the test, and hope the EGR is working OK.

Thanks. I was hoping you'd be among those to comment. I always wondered about that since I can smell some of the residual oil burning off of new parts.
