To Have a Clutch put in my 1992 240SX Fastback, I already HAVE the clutch I just need it put in.

I was wondering how HARD of a job this is to do, How long it would take and a ROUGH estimate of what it would cost??..

Thanks for ANY help..

Also I was wondering if a OEM shift knob off a 300ZX would fit in my 240SX, I drove my friends 96' 300ZX and absolutely LOVED the shifter

here is one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...64794&

Thanks for the help, it truly is appreciated

If you have a buddy its a real do it youself job. Make sure you pull the transmission straight out so you do not bend the output shaft that goes from the transmission to the engine. The transmission isnt that heavy but you do not want to be holding it up for that long. I don't see where people think that an auto is only 50 pounds heavier than the manual because I could litterally throw the manual around but the auto I cannot dead lift an inch off the floor.http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/flywheel/these 5 speed swap guides might have something to help you out. but idk.zerothread?id=77784http://www.ka-t.org/ ... ns...p.htm

I just remembered if you are having clearance issues pulling the transmission out or putting it in I think If you have the starter hump side toward the bottom it helps you clear the tunnel. Then just rotate the transmission untill it lines up when installing. Also you can loosen the engine mounts from the bottom a little bit and tilt the engine back.

Book time is 4.1 hours for just a disk replacement. That time can go up with flywheel removal/resurface and rear main seal replacement.

4.1 X (local shop rate)

I replaced the rear main seal when I did mine and I resurfaced the flywheel. I also replaced the front and rear seals on the transmission. I wish I had bought one of the cheap lightwheight flywheels tho.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemDont believe the retaill price they give for that flywheel. $170.oo shippd is the going rate. Never buy a F1 racing clutch kit. They suck the big one. If I was going ka-t I would buy a Fidanza tho. There is a gasket you can buy for the transmission seal cover on the front. It is so easy to change the seals on the trany. Post if you have any questions h0mie.
