How long does an engine usually last? It hasnt been driven hard and its out of a 1989 w/ 140000 miles on it. Is it worth goin stuff to the engine or to get a rebuild for the engine? I dont though wanna buy a new engine.

depends very much on its maintenance history particular oil changes.

I would look under the oil filler cap.if clean and minimal varnish=keeper.if darkbrown varnish maybe even sludge= not keeper.

this question has been asked like once a month forever

If you take care or your engine should last 175-225K, many people including myslef have ~125K and she still puts out like a fox.

Before the engine dies, chances are you will do one of the following before:

1. Total the car.2. Swap a faster engine.3. Do crappy maintenance.4. Sell the car.5. Not be able to drive after an accident.

In other words, I wouldnt worry about the engine dying out on you so long as you maintain it well, like any other Nissan engine.
