I was just curious to see how long turbocharged ka's last boosting 8psi? I was wondering because I have a 93 s13 and im only boosting 5psi, but plan on turning it up to about 8 or 10 psi. I have read that some people have been boosting for years with no problems, but are these cars rebult or built up?

All depend on life of your engine. Some last a week, others are still running and been boost for yrs. Just depends on regular maintence and it's past life.

alot has to do with the tunning

with a GOOD and decently safe tune being turbo will not shorten your engine life much if at all

its been said with 8psi and a good tune...your engine still has 90% of its normal life span...i read that in a book somewhere

Only ten days? What the heck happened was it from to much tiiming or a fuel problem or was your engine in bad shape to start with? I would be so if my motor only ran for a week and a half.

Mine ran for 9 months at 6psi on a 8:1 FMU and BTM, ran for 1 month at 8psi w/enthalpy tune, and has been running for 4 months at 11psi w/enthalpy tune.

Trapped 104.5mph at 8psi and trapped 107.4mph at 11psi.

hmmmm mine ran on 9 psi for 2 and a half years. i had 76K miles when it was first boosted and now it has 120K miles on it. just did compression test 2 weeks ago and its still mint. and i've been running 14 psi for 2 months prior to that. the engine has never been opened.

If you want longevity you need some sort of ecu tuning (jwt or enthalpy) or spend some money and get a standalone and have it professionally tuned. No ands, ifs, or buts. Do it right the first time and give your engine a shot at life...lol
