I dropped my car off at this shop February 16th. It is now April 14th and i still dont have it. I am getting an SR blacktop swap done. What i wanted to know is how long you guys had to wait until your cars where complete whether u did the work yourself or had some one else do it, this is concerning SR swaps.

its been 3 months and i am starting to get a little aggravated. i have the money all ready to go, its just the ECU is taking too damn long to be tuned.

Damn I had to wait until I was 17 to get laid. It was a loooong 17 years too....Oh wait you're talking about cars here. I wasn't waiting too much as I was getting dirty. It took all of 5 days from start to finish cause I did it myself. My first SR which I had a shop do took about 6 months for a basic SR swap !!

This was back in '01 and there weren't too many shops in NorCal at the time that knew about SR20's. My uncle who's built many 11 second all motor Honda's at the time was willing to take on the swap. Well, he wasn't sure about the wiring and info on the internet was next to nothing. So 3 mos later I was finally able to get my car into a shop who was up to the task. After about 2 mos and a half I started putting my boot up their @sses and they finally finished it. There was a S14 with a RB25 going in at the time and that one's been sitting there for a year!! Moral of the story, put your boot up their @sses.

I've shoved my boot so far up their @ss they should be $hitting blood now, still to no avail!!! i pressure and pressure them but all they do is put it off. i mean i have the money and everything ready to go, its either laziness or too much other stuff to do.

I should be a first priority though i mean, which would u rather have, $1500 cash or sum1 else's car rotting away in your shop???

It took a shop 3 months to do my wiring I bet it only took them 1 hour to do the wiring ! I called and asked about it every week , always being understanding and polite ! On the 3rd month I said "you told me it would take a week now its been 3 months so I hope your gonna give me a discount for being understanding!" They did and finished the next day, the job wasent worth the cost or the wait even after the discount ! Shops are VERY busy and the old saying is true "If you want something done right , do it your self!!!" I guess You Live and you Learn!

was it a basic swap? That's where I started... just OE (well sorta)... but no major mods... get it in and running... then build up later.. always easier to troubleshoot from base.. that way you know it runs and wiring issues sorted out... then if you have issues you know it's from something else (usually stupid stuff). Easier to isolate. Get too many things at once, with perhaps an inexperienced shop and you'll be waiting.. Oh swapped at home and did 5 speed swap at same time.. was worth it.. I took my time though.. 2 kids here.. so had to juggle time accordingly.. Good luck.. and what issues are they having with ECU.. did you not get one with motorset?

Go in your self and ask about it, ask to see it so you can look at the progress. I always make sure im timely and any one that is doing work for me is the same. Ive never had that problem b/c I am a Marine and I let them know so I use it to my advantage. If you live within a hour of the shop I would make the effort to make your precense known every couple of days and ask to see it. If that doesnt work I got a spanish friend named Celo who stands 6'4" 237lbs who (for a small rate) will show up in a black tuxedo at their door at 11pm and kinda influence them to finish it

Is he claiming to do the tuning himself or did he sent off the ECU? I bet he just sent it off and it's taking a good minute for your ECU to get back.

yea he sent it out to california to get retuned once, it came back and the car ran too rich. he sent it back out again and he claims that the post office lost the ecu en route. now he wont tell me what is going on now whether he is getting one or has one already. im totally clueless about what is going on with my car and he wont tell me anything. its getting ridiculous

I gave them a 7 weeks the first time and then another 5 or so the second time (I had to bring it back for some mistakes) I'm still fixing their half-a$$ed work, almost done though. Many shops get so many cars that they get back logged and it takes them awhile to do basic swaps bc they are working on multiple cars at one time. This is fine, but when they tell you it will only take 3-4 weeks, that's what you expect. My next swap (if I ever have the $ to do another) will be done by me with the wiring sent off to wiringspecialties.com

get a ride up there and tell them you are taking the car and going to someone who is reputable and can get the job done. i did that with a company here and it got their asses in gear, all of a sudden the body work was done in 2-3 days as opposed to 3 weeks
