Anyone know? My Z has been sitting for a little over a year. I just want to know if, when I get my engine in, starting will hurt it. Should I drain the fuel or will it be Ok?

I'd drain it just to be safe

I put some fuel line cleaner mixed with ethanol gas in the tank before and shook the car back and forth to stir it up, then just pulled the hose off the fuel filter (not on the engine side) , attached a 4' length of fuel hose with a male-male joint leading to a plastic gas tank, jumped the fuel pump relay and let it drain itself into the bucket --- once you've emptied the tank, put in another 2-3 gallons and flush it through then fill it up enough to get to the gas station and fill 'er up with some 94.

or you could just top it up with some race gas to bring the octane back to a normal level, then change your fuel filter after you burn through that tank just to be safe.

That makes me sad... the gauge registers a full tank.

Well when i bought my z off the guy he hadn't driven it in forever but it worked fine. But i doubt it was a year, a couple of months maybe. The weird thing was that when i took the cap off, it was like pressurized inside. It let off a pretty loud hissing noise. It was weird, haha

The higher the octane the better. I only use 93 or 94.

My car does that every single time I remove the fuel cap

But, Octane inhibits combustion. That is necessary in a high compression, TT engine. I don't think it does any good for a car that doesn't need it! High Octane does nothing to increase power or efficiency. It only makes sure that the gas doesn't burn before the spark.

Besides, you can't get any higher than 92 Octane where I live!
