Do you have any extra 11mm 3/8 drive deep sockets laying around? I lose those things like tita loses his anal virginity every friday night.

My DD has been in my possession for 2 1/2 years.
It has very little trade-in value, so I will drive it until it falls apart.
It has 154k on the odometer, but that has never changed because it doesn't work.
The speedometer doesn't work either, but luckily the little cricket doesn't like to go too fast anyway.

So what number constitutes the term 'too many'?
I have 5 but each has it's own purpose, so hopefully Dave doesn't think I'm being overtly extravagant. .

The X is a 2005 which I bought in Jan of '06. It has 115K on the clock.

I will drive it until the wheels fall off as it's dead useful for hauling stuff (I love that it's an SUV that doesn't forget the "Utility" part).

My wife, however, will be trading her 2000 Chrysler 300M with 115k for a Raven Black '11 CTS4 in the fall (whether she likes it or not).

I had leased a '99 300M (1st year model) for my wife . I actually liked the car, when it wasn't in the shop for warranty repairs. :)

*knocks on wood*

Fortunately my wife hasn't had a tremendous amount of trouble with her M. She had the ECU replaced in 2006 and other than that it's been fairly minor electrical gremlins (climate control led display doesn't work even though the controls work fine, right rear passenger door lock will lock but not unlock from driver's controls, only rear deck speakers work).

that's good. mine was a first year model, which is normally bad for American cars. It was a nice roomy cruiser for it's size.

How long have you owned your present DD? Since September of 2003.

Do you plan on trading anytime soon? Nope.

How many miles are on the odometer? 110,950as of this morning.

Is there a magic number where you say, "OK, this is too many miles. Time to trade it in"? Nope.

The answers for my wife's car: :)

How long have you owned your present DD? Since August of 1996.

Do you plan on trading anytime soon? Yes, we do plan on getting her a new car relatively soon. But we may keep her current car for our son to learn on rather than selling or trading it.

How many miles are on the odometer? Approximately 104,000 as of this morning.

Is there a magic number where you say, "OK, this is too many miles. Time to trade it in"? Nope.

1. I will have had it exactly 3 years on 8/31/11
2. No
3. I don't have the exact number off hand but I am getting close to 36,000
4. No

This may partly be due to sentimental value as this is my first car, but I plan on keeping it and driving it until it dies. It serves my needs perfectly and I have absolutely no reason to trade it in or get a new car. It took nearly 3 years of saving my money, but it was well worth it. I bought the car straight up and I LOVE not having a car payment.
Things have changed in my life so there is no way I would be able to save up that kind of money again to buy another car and not having a car payment is one less burden to worry about.

1. Define DD... it depends on the day. I guess I'll go with my 97 prelude though. I've owned it since September 2005.
2. I do not plan on trading anytime soon, although if someone offers me enough money for it (which would be way above its KBB value), I'd consider ditching it for a new Corvette. Kinda sad how a vette would be the most practical vehicle in my fleet.
3. 256,xxxish
4. I think at a million miles, I'd retire the car and build a garage specifically for it. Hang pictures on the walls of all the good times we had.

I had seven cars at one point and I am far from wealthy. Are you saying that displaying wealth is somehow bad? What's the point of having money if you don't use it for something you enjoy?

Dummy. The President says you're supposed to give it to someone who can't find a good job.

I would happily employ anyone who wants to work. I mean ACTUALLY WORK. Anybody? Hmm? I've held three jobs simultaneously before, I've held two jobs simultaneously as well. I was working my first business at age 4. It turns out my supply system was sketchy and mom shut me down, though. To quote Mr. Hedley, "you better get a job before it's too late boy."

The president can lick my left nut. If he wants to be an "organizer" I got a container full of car parts that needs sorting. I'll pay him illegal immigrant wages and pay for his health plan from Harry Reid's bank account.

I'm keeping a Ford Pinto for these days, the insurance company don't want to include it in my policy, I have had some citations to find valid plates to such a big tin can. Last time I can't even get inside the emission's inspection site, because they saw the black smoke coming from two blocks away and were waiting for me at the door to send me back home. From time to time I must come out with my beisball bat in my hand to scare the junkyard tow truck, that drives sporadicly around my block trying to take it from my driveway. The car still working, it suffers and shakes when reaches 45mph, have a thunder sound when speeding, I do take advantage of the smoke from its muffler using it to push flies and mosquitoes away of my backyard. But I know that this car must have to go very soon, specially when a neigbor who lives two houses from mine, has a Chevrolet van that two days ago was expelling white smoke in such amount that covered the whole street, and I said, "ok ok, you won you won...."

The car is heavy, so I may make good hundreds dollars selling it by weight, so far, some parts have been sold and stolen from this car already, the first things that disappeared were the lights, somebody must have made good money with them. The recycling metal center is not far away from my house, so this car finally must go.

I have had this car for...five months I think...I bought it for 10 bucks to a dude who was cleaning his house, he also sold in that day a broken in half boat for 5 bucks. I drove this car for three months until the temporary tags expired and can't get permanent ones.

I'm looking for a similar deal, because I have no problems pulling temporary tags every three months, the only problem is that taxes are about 100 bucks, but doesn't hurt much, because they are indeed fun to drive...

Dunno if you can view that or not...

Summary: Torry's wheel fell off while he was on the track. He never found the lug nuts.

What does this have to do with how long you're keeping your car?
