I find the exact opposite to be true. Perhaps you have a faulty thermostat?

I have checked its working,i keep an eye on the blue light ,when it turns off you have a flow of coolant, the heater blows warm. But after 5 minutes it will start to get warm,But not enough heat to warm up the car after 5 min.

Ah. Keep in mind, it is a relatively small engine engineered for low friction. Friction equals heat, less friction equals "Brrrrr." Even still, the Versa has the best heat of any car I've had. And I've had about 14 of them. Maybe my '92 Stanza has better heat... the VW GTI was by far the worst.

Same thing here. It's not bad. It's just has fast my 99 accent, if not better. It's hotter too.

It was 19 degrees when I woke up this morning and turned my car on. I let it idle for about a minute and then drove slowly for about two and the cold light had already gone off. A minute later the vents were pumping out very warm air.

Last night when i was driving home (no sun to warm the car) I had to keep the dial about about 2/3 warm on fan speed one to not get too warm.

My heater works much better than other cars that i've had. If yours isn't working very well then maybe you're not getting good hot air flow and the fan is still pulling a large portion of its air through the cold vent intake.

My heater also works very well. Not as well as my Tucson, but well enough that if I go over 3/4 and speed 2 (with A/C, no less) for more than 10 minutes or so, I will start to roast.

This is also accounting for the fact that my tint blocks most of the solar warming from the sun, so my V is at a disadvantage vs. most of yours when it comes to heat.

I'm not a Canadian, but thought I'd chime in. Just really started using the heater in earnest a couple days ago - and it's quite efficient at heating the car. Multiple times I've underestimated the heat output and ended up needing to roll down the windows to air out the car. Just a few clicks past "even" on the temp selector does the trick most of the time.

EV's experience is like mine. Though I generally don;t like to be warm either but if I put it on 3/4 heat at #1 for too long I start to roast as well.

It seems good to me...better than my Kia in which it seemed it really only had 2 settings...cold and deepfry...

My last car was a 1999 Toyota Tercel, very good car, the heating was excellent. Comparing it to the Versa, when my Versa 1st starts in the morning it does takes a little longer to warm up especially when idling, BUT once it's warmed up its HOT!!! I have tinted windows, & larger interior than the Tercel, thus longer to warm up the air in the cabin. My van took longer to warm up because of the larger interior air volume.

Well -30 degrees celsius is about 15 degrees Farenheit (which the stupid U.S. uses because <GOD FORBID> we join the international community in using the dreaded METRIC SYSTEM.

We get that cold here frequently in Chicago during the winter months and it's my understanding you only need a like 2-3 minutes MAX to let the oil warm up in newer cars. Anything beyond that is a waste of gas and not very pollution friendly.

Keep in mind I'm no expert...but this is what I've always heard...

(Actually, it's 22 degrees below zero F, but who's counting!)

Americans are just smarter. Why would we use 1 to a 1000 meters when we can use 1 - 5,280 feet? And who in there right mind would use 0-100 degrees when the same thing can be accomplished with 32-212? I mean, what challenge is there to 0-100?

Yeah, well I do sorta like weighing 90 kilograms more than, well, the equivalent number of pounds! (And it sounds even better to say my V's already logged 71,000 kilometers than its measly little 44,000 miles!)

DOH!!!! This is what i get for doing Math at like 4am, LOL!

90kg is 198lbs (2.2lb/kg) I know I did THAT one right. I agree, I'd rather weigh 109kg myself as opposed to 240lbs

/inadvertant threadjack

But it's gotten bitterly cold here in Chicago the last few days and I have YET to turn the heater all the way to the highest setting...that this is HOT, IMO anyway...

I'm in Winnipeg too and the heater has been great. I often get too hot and have to turn it down.

Man it is not good. It takes way too long to warm up. It sounds like the blower is working but I think all the output is going into the dash. My feet are COLD!!!!! and its only -10 or -15 C or 14 or 15 F. Dealer says to wear another touque!

I am totally choked...didn't spend the major bcuks to freeze for 6 months a year.My 1991 nissan truck heater works way better...and it only has 2 setting left working on the fan

I'm here with the same problem. Blower sounds really loud but hardly any air being blown about. Leave it on "2" and I get more heat coming out (eventually).

What's up?

is the intake area covered with snow/ice when you first start up?

if it can't suck in air it can't blow it out.

my wife said the heater works fine in our versa.

Nope. Today was the first snow since we got it. I'm trying to avoid taking it is, but lots of noise with little heat. Enough, I guess, after 15 minutes of driving and eventually warms up, but I expect better.

I get about the same effect...lot of noise, surprisingly little airflow.

I didn't respond to this thread originally, as the heater seemed to work fine through the winters of western Washington State (which are generally mild).

But last week, I had to take my Versa in for service. I still own a POS '84 Nissan pickup as a backup vehicle, so I drove that to work, instead. The difference in heater capability was astounding. The cabin got uncomfortably HOT within 5-10 minutes of starting out even with the fan on the low setting, something the V is hard-pressed to do without running the fan at full speed.

I don't consider the Versa heater as bad...after all, it does eventually get the cabin up to an acceptable temperature. But it certainly isn't as capable as some cars. I think it's a ducting problem, as it blows plenty of air in the defroster setting. Might be that the lower-footwall outlets are too small; this would explain both the low airflow and the noise.

drove the versa today from a cold start, about 17 degrees F after wind chill (-8.3333333 degrees Celsius), and after 10 mins or so the heater was fairly warm. after 15 mins i was turning it down...

so, yeah, there are other cars that get hotter (and do so faster), but i have no complaints.
