how is the wiring onboard next to the ecu

Car: owned a ca18det s13 two of them, jeep wrangler, suzuki gsxr600, 86 mazda rx7, and a y33.

now alot of the wire match but does alot of them not match but still have to be used . because i read that alot of wires i will not be using is this true which wires would i use and which ones will i not use..
