I've had my 2008 V since November of 2007. Just under 60,000 miles on it. No problems as of yet.
Nissan recently just extended the warranty on the CVTs to 120,000 miles or 6 years so you'll have that piece of mind if you get one. I like it...it takes a little bit of different driving technique with it. When you accelerate and eventually reach your intended speed I find that the RPMs will stay high. I have to take my foot off the gas and put it back on to have them come down.

The downside to it is maintenance. The transmission fluid is expensive but you don't have to change it as often as a standard auto tran.

We have one with about 110k, one with about 63k and one with 36k miles. All three have performed flawlessly. Even getting the fluid changed on the oldest one really wasn't that expensive, although I don't remember the exact price.

It didn't take me long to learn to control the RPM. I generally accelerate about at a constant 2000-2500 RPM or sometimes even less, depending on whether there's traffic behind me. I try to always keep it at 3000 or less, since 2500 will keep it at about 75mph on the flat. There are a couple of places where I have to run 3500rpm going up a hill at 65-70mph (we live in the mountains), but that's rare.

It's great! :bigthumb: I figure if it can handle 290hp on a maxima no problem, I'm good.

Absolutely worth it. The CVT is extremely smooth and allows the cruise control to keep the speed constant without the jerking into passing gear on uphills that you get with regular automatic transmission. Over three years old and not a hint of a problem. Not even a hiccup when I drove the car from here in California to Florida and back.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another CVT on whatever my next car turns out to be.

the cvt is bland. But it sure is smooth.

Every time I drive an automatic and it shifts I feel like it is broken.

No problems after 91,000 miles. I like the fact that there is no "down shift" going up steep grades. It's smooth.

My cousin just had his CVT completely fail at 80,000kms on his Murano and Vera at 65,000kms - still covered under this new warranty - However, there is a reason why the CVT is failing and Nissan will not release any information per say -
Personally if you are looking into a CVT lease one don't buy one because they do not seem to handle long life very well.

Grab the tried-and-true 4 speed auto and change the ATF fluid every 30-40,000 kms.
