You will be OK as long as you live on a main street that gets plowed often and have another car to drive when it snows!

Get good tires and you should be fine. I live in Delaware and it snows here as well. I have a sedan and I haven't had much trouble. The traction control is pretty amazing IMO.

Down here we get lots of rain....and hurricanes....and as long as you are pretty easy on the gas and don't floor it going around a corner you'll be fine. Get a decent set of tires, maybe even a set of winter and a set of summer, and keep the vdc on and you'll be fine.

since i have a 2006 G35 coupe, which is up for sale btw, and i drive in snow, i can say, ITS BAD. that is unless you have mounted snows, in which case you are fine. since its got a fair bit of power, you will want to be careful of the rear breaking loose. otherwise, id say, its all about the tires. and the stability control.

+1

Its about like you'd expect it to be. A lot of power to the back wheels on slippery conditions is bad with any RWD car. Just make sure you start it out slow. Definitely get some good tires for cold weather. Optimally you want to have 2 sets...one for winter and one for summer.

Using the VDC on/off is a feel you have to get. Sometimes you will want it off when starting, most the time i leave it on.

Unless you can afford to take a day of or get to get a beater when it is hell out there. Don't buy it. You'll have days when you have to leave her in the garage. Also you must need winter tires for it.

I live in Chicago too.

This past winter we had a lot of snow. I bought a set of Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires and I had no problem at all.

With the VDC and "Full Tread" tires the coupes I've tried are OK in the snow, but not great. They're really bad, howevre, if you have 35 to 45 series tires with 50lbs of air preassure. I can promise you one thing from my experience - it will be better in the snow and wet than just about ANY 2WD BMW!

With new tires and careful driving you should have no problem

Welcome aboard...this question has been asked many times.

I have had RWD (2 G35 Coupes) for the last 4 years.

I live in Toronto so I know about driving these cars in snow.

1- Always keep your VDC on in the winter. Unless your stuck and need to rock the car back and forth.

2 - Buy snow tires immediately. I use Blizzaks.

3 - Respect Mother Nature... If you fart around in poor weather conditions...you will rgret it.

Other then that, I have never had a problem.

ZoZo, No winter tires, just fresh all seasons. The G35X's are wonderful in the snow and ice and I've never had a problem. My two G35's were OK as I always keep at least 4/32 tread and they would go as good as could be expected. Only issues were on steep hills without a head of steam. Two years ago, while unemployed, I worked at a large auto auction nearby and drove the Nissan's and Infiniti's through the auction every week. Anytime I had a 350Z or Infiniti with low profile tires when it was snowing, it was an adventure.

That's what I though. Was curious about what's your thought about x on all season vs rwd on winter tire. You are the only one here who can actually tell us. I drove the rwd 07 sedan when I was shoping and found it lot worse. Just my thought.

Telco, Gwhizz how many days you guys were actually opted out to stay home instead of driving last winter? I am sure there was some.

I had a 2006 G35 Coupe with Sport and put a set of 17" Konig Incident with Blizzaks LM-22s on it and it was awesome. I am in Cincinnati Oh. I only used them one winter before I sold my car.

I am selling the rims and tires right now for $900 if anyone is interested.
