I am looking to spend around $2000-$2500 total on suspension and brakes, and I was wondering if bushings (energy suspension, whiteline, nismo, etc) are totally essential. Drifting and AutoX, but the car is mostly an athletic daitly driver. I want around 220-230 at the wheels here in about 6 months, so no need for super aggressive suspension for a race car. Thanks for any insight given:)

Getting new bushings are not necessary. Though putting them in your car will handle a hell of a lot better cornering and will improve on the performace of your suspension. Not saying suspention has a lot to do with it but when you hit bumps and corner hard, it will let your suspention take the blow as it was designed. Not your bushings. Im glad your are worried about suspention and bushings, etc. Anything that will help you control your car better and predict the handling is safe and a smart move at that. Plus if you want to drift, you definatly want to know how your car will take the corner. Not hope and see what happens.

Oh, I'd go with Prothane Bushings.

I use whiteline bushings in every car I work on, haven't let me down yet. It cost me roughly $500 to do all of them, and most of the rears are eccentric (camber adjustable). They made all the difference in the world. I would ABSOLUTELY do it, they will end up being the weak link in your suspension if you don't.

I haven't upgraded the bushings yet, but new bushings are definitely on my upgrade list for the coming year. Whiteline and Nismo seem to be the top contenders in my mind, and I'm tempted to go with Nismo. Our local Nissan tuning shop can get them for me, and the Nissan Dealership can get them for a pretty decent price amazingly enough.

As for the camber adjustables, I like the idea, but I'm not sure if I want to spend a ton of extra dollars. While not trying to skimp on the suspension, I'm trying to stay in a decent budget.

Ok, I ask because I am about to throw down a grand in suspension and brake stuff today. What should I get in that case?

Look at Prothane. They dont start to squeek like whiteline and they are inexpensive. They do the job great. What suspention are you doing? My sus. setup consist of Tien Type Flex coilovers and Prothane bushings. I couldnt have gone wrong there. Good luck. My advice is done go half *** on coilovers/
