I want to clean up the engine bay and get that nasty heat shield a good cleaning. my step dad has this paint i can use he got free from a sales rep.....

is it going to see 300+ degrees. I dont have a EGT gauge so idk......
i dont really want to use normal engine enamel unless it is absolutely nessacary.
figure I would wire brush the rust off and give it a nice shine. I suppose I could have it san blasted at his work..... but EH....

Yeah right........it'll burn off within 10 mins Get it ceramic coated as mentioned above. I got my ex. mani heat shield done on my old ca18et, and it always stayed perfect...never dulled, peeled or anything. I also got the ex. mani done at the same time...same results, except it tarnished a tad. yea thats around 850 degrees C - 1600 F.... dont see anything wrong with that.
but why be cheap, jet hoting the heat shield would prolly cost around 50 ameros.
