It's located near me. I'm going to go look at it asap. Check the engine bay space...it's just dying for something bigger than a Z20......Let me know how much would be insane to pay for this car, and vote for which engine I should swap in if I get it!! (it looks like it could swallow just about anything)1)Leave it alone2)Frankenstien'd L-series (Z24 block with L16SSS head)3)L28 or L28ET (I have one of these, too)4)VG305)Vh45DE (I actually have one of these...btw)6)Z24 block with Z20 head...lookin stock 7)Buick 3.8 turbo8)Buick 350 (yes, it's different from a chevrolet motor...it's the 3.8 with two more cylinders and a longer stroke crank)9)Ford 30210)KA2411) Chevy small block

Why no RB? I don't feel like overspending to get an unknown motor that I still have to adapt to fit. Same goes for the SR20...great motor but they're just overpriced nowadays for something that might be a total basket case

Why no rotary? If I wanted one I would get an RX-7.

Thank you for your input!

Do NOT swap that!!!!

Dude, that's a collectible.

Is that a CA under the hood?

Very cool - I'd say it's worth $4K or more, depending on the corrosion status.

No it's a Z20....L20b with the NAPS-Z cylinder head.Probably about 100hp or so.I'll check it out when the owner calls me and sets up a time. It seems to have no rust at all. I'll snap some pics if he lets me and post them up here. Edit: It's a Z22E. Same difference, just a bit bigger motor.

very interesting... not sure that i care for the looks of the car as it sits, but it's interesting none the less. hopefully a dedicated niconaut picks that up.

With only 68k on the car, do not molest it!

It's hard to assess the value of a car for which there are few "comps". It's worth whatever the highest bidder is willing to pay for it.

http://i131.photobucket.com/al...2.jpgI was able to drive down to York today and look at the car. It really is in primo condition, it does need a top and isn't perfect but it actually only has 60K worth of wear on it. The Z22 has been gone over with new injectors and the wiring and hoses look top notch. It starts right up and the power steering/etc works great I really like it, but I don't think I'm gonna be able to afford it, unless I unload some of my other cars. (anyone interested in a really clean suburban?) The Z22 isn't a powerhouse but does have tons of torque. I guess I could throw together a potent little Z24 block/ported head combo for it for a bit more go and still look stock, and keep the original engine in mothballs....Power range is about 400 rpm to 4000rpm, seriously. You can literally drop the clutch at it's 700rpm idle and not stall out. I forgot how (truck) V-8 like these little things are. Literally half a V-8, the way they deliver power. It gains speed like a diesel (not fast but with a relentless strength) It also revs like a diesel but that's besides the point...as I'm sure it gets diesel like fuel economy too. The diesel comparisons also come to mind....if you give it 1/4 pedal it lumbers efforlessly up to speed, up through the gears, and lickety split you're doing 70mph. Floor it and it lumbers effortlessly up to speed, and before you know it lickety split it's up to 70mph. It's also very diesel like in it's torque......I accidentally released the clutch too fast at 900 rpm, and it didn't buck, it didn't stall, it chirped the tires and went on like it was no big deal. The only thing not diesel like about it is that it doesn't smoke when you cold-start and when you floor it. It's such a great cruiser, though. The chassis is very flexy, as to be expected with a 1983 convertible, but it still rides and handles very nicely. Not that I would be racing something this rare anyways wish me luck. I'm weird but I really like this car. I guess if the bidding goes too high I can always get a 240 'vert, now that you guys posted how to get rid of the stupid seatbelt extendos. With a silvia front end they are similar in appearance to the S110. (S12 was 1984 to 1988)

Good luck - I'd love to see that added to the NICO family!

BTW, what's he asking for it?

He wouldn't tell me. He just says he wants "to make some money on it, that's all" Bidding is over 2 grand and reserve is not met yet. I'm willing to go to 3,000 because I'm stupid and impulsive when it comes to oddball cars of the Datsun variety. I hope it's enough, still 7 days left in the auction!

DOH!It's up to $3550, 6 days remaining. I don't need something that rare that bad. (anyone selling a 240 vert?)Btw I found a place that has about 6 or 7 roadsters.....in Pennsylvania. They also have 2 of those 320 el-camino looking trucks. None for sale but nice to look anyway. Email me [email protected] if you want pics of them. (or if you want to sell me a convertible)
