my first question is, is it worth it to pay for the motor and swap oto just upgrade my KA24? I have searched and did not see much performance support for the KA24. My second question is how hard would the swap be if i wear to try it? ANY help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to NICO. This issue has been discussed in depth many many times. The deciding factors on what you should do are:

1. The condition and Mileage of your KA.

-Boost is very hard on a motor and while there are some stock KA's pushing big numbers on stock internals, the rings and ring lands will be taking some bigtime abuse.

2. Your power goals

- In My opinion, if you only want 250-260 whp a KA-T would be best because you can piece together a turbo kit for around $1500 if you buy all new parts.- Above 300 I'd go SR. You won't have to worry about internals with the SR until close to 500whp.-Above 500 they are both the same. Both need massive rebuilds and massive turbos

3. Your budget-If you are trying to get boost on the Cheap, a KA-T using SR20DET turbo, injectors, SMIC, and SS Autochrome T2X manifold is the way to go with a light tune from an SAFC- If you want reliability I'd go SR. I daily drove mine for almost 2 years before I developed rod knock, the SR is easily capable of going almost 200k, I just ran low on oil because my aftermarket oil pressure sensor snapped off.

Feel free to search our forums. You'll find the answer to almost any question you have.

Edit: As regards difficulty of the swap that depends on how mechanically savvy you are. IMO it's easy as cake.

Other then a little wiring rework, it's probably one of the easier motor swaps out there.

i work in a shop that does swaps and i advise an sr20det swap over a ka-t. it all depends on what youre looking for tho. ive seen some very nice power out of a ka as well as an sr20. but from my experience stock for stock. the ka-t no internal work can only run max of about 8 lbs. where as i push my sr20det to 15 lbs all day long and it runs like a champ. as everyone says it all comes down to money. so weigh out your pros and cons and go with what you can afford.

We'v got a guy who ran 29 pds of boost with stock internals.. Its all about the tune. Same guy neted 490 hp at 25 pds of boost on the dyno just the other week.

Its all about the tune man.. Sr will blow just as fast as a KA with a ****ty tune.
