I just did the DIY Flexane engine mounts and bought the Peak Performance Race transmission mount. I searched for a How To on how to replace the engine mount but had no luck. On the transmission, I think, all I had to do is support the transmission, then take out the transmission brace and replace the mount. Not sure about the engine mounts. Help please.

you need to either jack up the engine off of the mounts after removing the bolts or remove the engine entirely.

the jacking method is less time-consuming but unless you know what you are doing/have the ability to work in a confined space, it can be dangerous.

The way we did it was remove the top and bottom nuts and use a cherry picker to support and raise the motor just enough for the top mount studs to come out of the engine brackets. Slide out the old mount and replace with the new ones. Me and Asher4857 did mine in about 30 minutes. Please be careful of course.

I'm going to be replacing my engine mounts and the transmisson mount next week. I know you have to disconnect the exhuast, fuel line hoses ,transmission mount, and remove engine mount nuts in order to pick the engine up.

Is there other parts that should be disconnected or removed before I chain up the engine to the cherry picker and pull the engine two inches off the mounts?

that is a good and quick way to do it without taking the engine out

Yoy might be able to get away without disconnecting exhaust maybe just at the cat. Fuel lines, brake booster line are needed to be disconnected. The rest should have enough room to move but be watching everything while jacking up on the motor. Might want to disconnect radiator hoses. Loosen both mounts but jack more on one side of the motor so it tilts and replace then lower jack and go to the other side.

Unbolt the mounts, jack up the engine using the transmission bellhousing, lower the front crossmember, remove the old mounts, install the new mounts.

Tighten the front crossmember bolts, lower the engine back onto the mounts tighten the bolts.

There is no need to unbolt anything other than the mounts and loosen the bolts holding the front crossmember onto the frame. Do not make it harder for yourself than it should be.

Oh yes, I have replaced two sets of engine mounts using the method I have described above. If it is of any consolation to anyone both sets where impregnated with construction grade polyureathane adhesive.

I'll try your method, seems way more easy.

My advice: spray the engine mount bolts daily with PB-Blaster, starting several days before attempting this job.

They might be siezed on there. Thanks for the advice. I'll be attempting this job in my auto tech class were I have access to breaker bars , and air rachets. I'll try the pb blaster if its going to make the job a whole lot easier.
