Dammit this mechanic has had my car for 3 days and can't figure out how to get the doors to lock and unlock. I have a 91 240sx, se. He got the autostart to work, now the interior light dont work, and it still don't lock and unlock.

Tell your mechanic that the harness that comes form the drivers side door after entering the vehicle turns slightly upward. It attaches to 2 harnesses directly above your fuse box. Before it enters the harness there is a orange/black and a orange/white or green . But they are the only orange wires that are there

one of those is for the lock the other for unlock they are activated by a positive current . one in which your alarm put out. It is the most common door system their is. I hooked mine up yesterday. It took me about 4 hours in the rain. Make sure he doesnt charge you too much It is very easy.

a remote starting alarm really shouldnt take longer than 4 hours to install (at least for someone you are paying to do it). you just need to hook up the alarm lock/unlock output wires like slakker mentioned. make sure he uses the positive ones or it wont work!

This was for a 89. so a 89-94 then. If youd like I could look what color the wires are for you. You could have taken the time to drive the car up here to Pennsylvania and I could have had it installed and had you back home days age. What kind of arse is this mechanic.

Im having the same problem. I have a car alarm and power door locks that have been sitting around for months now just because I or my friends dont know how to install them on my 240. You would think there would be someone out there willing to help you out to install them without charging you $200. I just need help to make sure I install it correctly not do the whole job. Anyone in my area please feel free to drop by and give me a hand.

If you need the wiring colors, I can give them to you. It doesnt get much easier than that. Electrical installs are only a problem because of all the testing required. If you know the location, then it is simple. I already gave the answers. Any more questions just ask. That is what this forum is all about. TO SAVE FROM HAVING THAT 100 DOLLAR PER ASSPOLE SCREW YOU OVER. Remember s13=Orange wires included in the bundle coming in from the driver's door. It enters the car, turns slightly upward and goes into a harness. Very easy. Any more questions let me know.

Yeah I actually tried installing it 4 or 5 times but gave up and so did my friends. We had a wiring diagram to go by to, its like a freakin guess game. Theres like 5 different yellow wires, and a bunch of other wires im suppose to connect this thing to and I cant even find them. It's all a freaking joke, I need help before I start on it again. I also asked on forums for help, though they helped me alot and i apreciate it, it wasn't enough to get the job done

Your car is an SE so i'm assuming you already have power door locks. Why would he need to install another solenoid? Unless the 91 door lock setup is different from a 90, You should be able to tap into the door lock timer near the ecu. There's two wires among the 6 or 8, one to lock and one to unlock. those wires need only a negative electrical pulse (from the alarm brain) to activate BOTH the passenger and driver side door locks simultaneously.

the door unloack lock is funny. If you lock from driver they both lock, if you unlock from passenger they both unlock. And i belive its a positive signal not negative.

I'm pretty sure there was just a thread on this - within the last week... IIRC you need a single actuator and relay, don't hold me to it tho.

maybe it's different depending on where you hook it up to. But on mine, the door lock/unlock was triggered by a negative signal from the alarm brain. either way..that mechanic doesnt sound like he knows what he's doing :P (unless he knows exactly what he's doing and is trying to squeeze some more $$ from you )

so any word on the progress??

you should only need the actuator if you dont already have power door locks.

Ok, thx for that note - just for clarity's sake, this is limited only to SE trim?

The drivers door has all the control over the locks. According to a post or so ago, you will not need to wire a relay to activate an actuator. Dig around on the net, they can be had for $15.

so there's no door lock actuators on the drivers side for 91+ 240s?

I may be wrong - I could have sworn I had SE trim.. It seems with my locks that I can only use the 'power' locks from the driver's side. Looking at a 1993 FSM, the ckt diagram shows two 'door lock actuators', and a single switch('lock knob switch L.H.'). I can say the lock/ul timer is controlled by an active low signal - ground the input to unlock.

HTH, I hope I didn't mis-inform.-Jamie
