okay so im going to be starting my 89 s13 with an rb20 in it and i would really like to daily drive it. well i live in stafford, VA and we need stupid *** emissions. so how do i get it to pass. ive been told before to just put a cat. on it and itll pass. but i dont know if it would be that simple. i am more than willing to put a catco high flow high emissions cat. on it. but is that all ill need? i was also thinking of getting a stock exhaust for the test too maybe to help. or if i have to ill put two cat.'s on it to get it to pass. i dont know if thatll work haha. just came into mind. please help guys yall have helped me alot in the past and i could really use that help again. i dont want to have to sell my baby becuase of this. ive worked so hard and put sooo much money into her.

dude just try it out, i see this thread all the time. i live in CT and all we need to do is pass a sniffer really for pre 96 cars. and i am runnign straight pipe no cat and my car almost passed. it wasn;t far off at all. i only took it through like that becuase i didn;t have one and i had to do a emissions/vin check and they do it at the same time cause it was a out of state vehicle so i could get it registered. im going to go back with a cat on it and i have no doubt in my mind that it will pass with flying colors with a brand new cat. if anything just get it tuned a little lean at idle up to like 3k if you are that worried about it. don;t get all emo you aren;t going to have to sell your "baby" you will figure it out somehow.

oh, well if they dont do a visual , make sure your car doesnt stumble, maybe tighten the gap on your plugs a little, o2 sensor is working and pull your timing back to like 8 deg.

btw i live in FL so i have not tested these methods.
