How hard is it to change the water pump on a 91 maxima?

Someone said you MUST replace the timing chain.

Is this true?

If you car had a timing chain. You have a timing belt. You do have to pull the timing cover off and the belt to get the pump out. It will take you a good 2 1/2 to 4 hours to do the job. It is a bit tough do to space constraints and the fact you have to pull the crank pulley. The will require a chain wrench to at least tighten it unless you have an impact gun.

yup, good idea to get a belt, cam and crank seals, water pump, rtv, coolant, and maybe a coolant temp sensor with pigtail harness.
