I plan on going turbo (everyone says that). Consisting of a t-25, fmic, 550cc, walbro, 300zx maf, ect.. I was wondering how good would a safc2 be, or will it be efficent enough to run around 250-300hp and around 12 lbs of boost. I don't know which way to go as far as tuning.Suggestions?!?!?!?!

Not good at all.

The reason being is that the SAFC is good for the larger injectors and different MAFS, but it won't change your timing at all in boost. When you're pushing that much more air at the higher pressures, your going to need to retard the timing some.

Therer's plenty of ecu tune services out there. Jwt, efispecialist, enathaply, nistune, calum (sp) . Do not get emance since.. well just search. There's also detsch werks who also starting to tune ecu but only for sr right now

I ran 12psi on a t3 super 60 fine for quite awhile with a safc 2, 400cc injectors, and z32 maf.. and about 17* btdc timing. But maybe I was just lucky?

I'd think that Deatchwerks is probably a re-branded ECU from somewhere else - most likely JWT.

Nistune and Calum are both do-it-your-self tuning systems.

Personally I'd do one of three things - get an Enthalpy ECU, a JWT ECU, or find a local tuner that can either chip your ECU to work or use tune a standalone for you and just tow the car to them after everything is installed. You could always try the DIY route though, if you're comfortable with the idea.

When you say quite a while, what happened that you don't run it anymore? lol

The important thing is that you backed out the base timing, probably saved your motor. But did you experience any knocking or weird idle issues at all?

If your on a tight budget, get an 8:1 RRFPR(FMU) and if you wana go 'baller' get a SAFC and have it dyno tuned to lean it out a bit. You'll have a good, reliable, cheap setup.

SAFC as a soul tuning device sucks.

Well I think I'm gonna just install all of the parts and just have the car towed to my tuner and let him do what he does best. Thanks for all of the input. And on one more note, whats a good boost controller? I've heard about getting a srt-4 boost controller cause it have 2 or 3 stages of boost, and I like that idea. I know greddy have their hi and low boost controller but is there any other options other than manual controllers?

LOL @ a boost controller on a stock car, lol wow thats pretty amazing actually. I wonder if its customizable at all. That just seems like such a bad idea from a manufacturers perspective lol, ffs.

No a SAFC2 is perfectly fine and is the choice of tuning for most KA-T builds. You can retard the timing with a light gun. I have seen more people blow their motor relying on a jwt or whatever tune then atually aafc2 + retard timing.

I agree, I have seen alot of people blow there motors due to a bad tune from a chip. A S-AFC and retarding your timing at the distrubitor is perfictly safe for up to about 12PSI. Iv been doing it for 2 years now with no problems.
