how good is a tire plug/patch??

i just found a nail in one of my azenis and the first autox is next sunday , my question is would it be safe to run a plug/patched tire in autox?? ive gotten tires plugged before and havent had a prob. i just dont really want to buy a new tire so wahts your input??

If they did a Plug/Patch combo, and vulcanized it from the inside, it should be fine, so long as the puncture isn't over 1/4" in diam.

Agreed. An inside patch, properly installed, over the hole is kinda important - more so than the plug.

Autox should be okay, just avoid very high-speed runs in the future on that tire.

In my Q45, for example, all high-speed driving (near 150mph) was done on un-patched, freshly balanced tires.

Szhasain doing it right. Nearly all manufacturers will void speed rating, or say speed rating is reduced,(to wash their hands of all liability) if a repair is performed. Some are even so picky as to designate only specific repair procedures and shops, or techs with specific certification.
