the first negative you'll hear is "its a s*** truck motor"
but ignore that, it doesnt rev as high as others, but its torquey...can be built as well as any other motor, its reliable as n/a...it can be turbo'ed there are kits for it now and boost oriented internals available.
good motor, keep oil in it and dont slam into and past redline all the time, take care of it even slightly and itll prove a good reliable plant.

^^^Exactly. Ain't nothing wrong with a well maintained KA. It's got lots of performance potential. Just don't be expecting it to behave like a Honda motor, cuz it ain't.

KA's are fine, OP. SR's are fine, but don't buy into the hype.

Im assuming it is an 89 or 90. It came stock with a KA24E, That's single cam. The DE is dual cam and he swapped it over. I, or any of my friends, haven't had ANY problems with a KA, SRs on the other hand always causing troubles, but turbo'd adds complications. KAs are notorious for having injectors go out though :(
just don't go to redline, it's useless with the KA, the power decreases after 1k from the redline IIRC.

I don't know, but it was definitely one of those comments that adds no value ... kinda like this THREAD! "How good is a Ka24de motor" ... ... It's the GOODEST, I say. :chuckle:
