Just so you know, not all 240s have a max of 115mph on the speedo.. the S14s have a max of 120mph. Anyway, if you want to see your car go over 115mph what you can do is get a 180mph speedometer from lsauto.com. They go for about $175.

BTW, my engine starts to shake everytime I hit 115mph. I think it's due to the speed governor. You might want to look into that if you can't get past the 115mph mark.

all depends on how much power ur putting down. other than that see what rpm u are at when u top out. if 60mph is 3000rpm in 5th gear then obviously 6k rpm is 120mph. these arent real numbers just examples. and not too many people know how fast they go stock cause the manual transmitions are limited at 118.

your engine starts to shake at 115 mph?? my gov. just cuts the fuel till the speed drops down a few mph and the engine pulls hard all the way to till the governor kicks in. but i also have a S14 so you never kno

if my horrible memory serves me correctly, the automatic ECU does not have a governor in it. i have made it to 120 in my s14 but ddint go any further due to traffic and crap tires.

I haven't "topped out" yet. Getting some new parts soon so we'll see what happens then.

i had an 89 24o 5spd and she topped out at 115ish (big fuel cut sent me back down to about 112mph before i could accelerate again) and the govenor in my o2 altima (auto) is about 122mph or so

all of your's stop at around 115-120? when i had my 92 5spd i had the speedo buried in the odometer, almost pointing straight down at about 5500-6000 rpm's, not quite sure, was a long time ago.then my fuel cut off, and no hard shaking.

havent taken the 7 much past 100 yet...

Yeah i hit 115 then cut me off, i got to 120(im estimating) going down a slight hill. Sucks not being able to go any higher then 115 when everyone else your with you can hit like 130-140.

hey, i cut the sped sensor wire in my S14 5spd, so i went past 120, i give it about 127-130, easily, but then the 5000 rpm fuel cut kicked in and coudnt go any faster, i've read somewhere the estimated redline speed in the 240sx is like 135mph or something, not totally sure where, and ive read on the boards in other top speed threads that with a proper wheel and tire combo 140 is easily attainable, except for that rpm governor, that needs to go

On the autobahn most of the city and busy areas are governed by speed. Once you reach the country area there is no limit to your speed. Most People drive around 100mph. Over there you can be cited for slowing down traffic even if its 90mph.

SR20DET.Bavaria, You have the z-edition of the 200sx. Could you give me some more details. I know the small stuff, the cd-player, oz rims. Could you give me some specifics on the car.

Have more or less HP will NOT AFFECT how fast, you are going at whatever RPM, only how fast you get there....Gear Ratio affects what speed at what RPM.... If you need help will this well, I dont know then. Incase you cant answer your question it is the same RPM's at 70mph as anyone else!

Also, Scott from Secret Services makes regular apperances at 180 mph, he ended up toping out at 196 mph, GPS's and Mile marked...

yea HP wont effect the rpm @ speed. i was trying to calculate (roughly) what the speed would be at redline in 5th awhile back and i think it came out to about 140-150 for my KA

I've buried my speedo on the way to Houston, it's ironic cause the car just sucks down lower (suspension get's rougher as a result) after about 120mph. I've prolly had it close to 140 mph since I was doing about 6700 rpm :D

Granted it took me a while to get there... and the car just wouldn't go any faster.

that's average. I hit 70-75 in that range (my speedo is off by 2 mph and tach is off by about 100 RPMs, so its somewhere in that range).

As for fuel cut, mine kicks in at 118 as well ;)
