Top speed... come on kids, we all know you've tried it.

I don't own a 240 yet, but my 92 civic Si tops at 115, I think it's governed.

ive topped mine out at 115 (stock motor). I hit the limiter.

Havent gone over 100 with the CA yet. I dont trust theses skinny tires at high speeds. When i get my 225/50's ZR rated tires, its on!

I got to 154mph measured by a GPS system back when I had far less power, I want to fit an S14 diff and see how fast I can get with the longer gearing.

Hey Paul,

Is that avatar a pic of a CA18DET with a glowing manifold and pipes? If so, I can testify to that and say "173mph in a 65mph zone" is jail time and revokation of license, but not for me. No more speeding like that for me and by the way, when I popped my hood for the trooper, my manifold was an x-ray orange glo-show.

My AIM is Turb0sentra or email me at [email protected] with your questions. And Paul, you know as well as I do that when you get that manifold to glow, you've been working that engine out real good;) !

Well the 240's speedo isn't working, but my buddy was chasing me in my 337 and we got up to around 90-100mph before he hit the 4,500cut off in 5th gear. As for the 337 I have gotten her up to over 140 in 5th and it is a 6 speed. Hoping we can find some kind of cheap ecu bypass to get rid of the limiter on the 240sx.

That was after a bit of DIY mapping, its even easier to get my tubular manifold to glow ;)

My 90' 240 probably tops out around 114 or so. Can't tell since the speedo doesn't work. But judging how it feels on the road from my old Pontiac GT, I'd say it's about right.

Thats really bad, why did Nissan fit a speed limiter to U.S. 240's?

The euro 200/240's never had a speed limiter. :D

Actually Nissan isn't the only one. Alot of other car manufacturers did it. It sucks in my opinion. :( My old 93' Pontiac GT had a governor set at 112mph. Even tho the car was only pegging 4600 RPMS and redlined at 7k. :( I could hit the governor in 4th gear at around 6700.

Blast them!

HA ha! 145 to 150 in my old school 77 280Z with an air dam, body kit and headlight covers. needle was bouncing. I estimated close to the actual speed as indicated by the tachometer. with gear ratio, differential ratio and tire diameter, ti was right in the ball park. I love old school. no speed limiter, no fuel cut, no BS!
