Hey guys, I picked up a DOHC to put in my 90. I have done the searching on rebuilds and think I am on the right path with actual assembly. I plan to pretty much stay stock, maybe a small turbo in the future (200ish hp is all I want). I understand that I will not need forged internals for that. My plan was to do the general rebuild...full gaskets, seals, head and main bolts, bearings, timing kit, water pump, oil pump, new rings, honing the cylinders...but reusing the pistons, rods, etc.

Most of the items I find during search only talk about the bottom end. What about the head? Do you guys that do basic rebuilds keep and reuse all the valves, springs, etc? Is a port and polish necessary, or valve guide machining?

For the head have it checked by a shop. Replace the stem seals and lap the valves and that's pretty much it. For the bottom end regasket and new bearings check all your tolerances and make sure you replace the head bolts (I'd upgrade to arp studs) and flywheel bolts the're tty. New rings and call it a day. Should cost less then 400$ if you shop around. Im not saying go cheap but shop around.
