I own a 2007 Nissan Atlima 3.5 SE and was curious how far the car can travel if the keypad is not in the car (yet the car is started). Someone told me it was 1-2 miles down the road before the car shut off.

Does anyone know the exact answer?!?!

Come on Stace

We have to find a long stretch of road to do that on and I'll leave you with the keys on the side of the road

I was told that the car will travel any distance without the key pad in the car. The thing will be that, once you turn it off, it won't start without it. So wherever you go, you're stuck unless you have a key or keep the engine running.

^^^ heard the same here, i've had people drive my car pretty far with my keys in my pocket so it's pretty certain the car will drive to as far as you want until it is shut off w/o the key nearby

Yea it is kind of weird but you can always lock your car if you plan on leaving it running somewhere. You cant do that with a car with a key you have to use.

If you lock it while it is running, how are you going to unlock it again without the key?

Because your going to have the key with you Ok says its a cold day out, you want to keep your car running while going inside to get a coffee or something. At the same time your afraid to leave your car running without locking it.

- Make sure you have your key in your pocket (or purse for the ladies).- Get out of the car with the car running - Press the button on the handle to lock the doors- Walk away.....your car is running AND locked keeping your car toasty. - Come back with your coffee and press the unlock button.

Oh and about the key thing, its so convenient having the intelligent key. Cause since we share our driveway with the tenants I always have to move my parent's car ('05 Altima) out of the way in the morning or whenever I come home in the evening to park my car in the garage; and since I have both keys on one ring I don't have to shut either of the cars off when moving them. I just lock the doors on my coupe if I need to run inside to grab something.

Yes, that is a convenient feature. I thought he was referring to the time when you drive away and forget your key somewhere else.

What happens if you swallow the key? Can you press your belly button to roll down the windows or is there a button in the trunk?

Lets do it! I'm down! Remember I'm leaving YOU on the side of the road with the keys!
