Anyone here have any "Kramer & Car Salesman"-type experience? My light just came on, and I'm headed to my girlfriend's house later tonight, where gas is usually 10% cheaper. She's 30km away. Can I make it?

I don't trust my gas gauge at all. When that light comes on, I'm on my way to get it filled up immediately.

Once my Versa gets down to half a tank, it starts to sink very quickly. Seems to be even faster than my old Civic (which was really bad).

You should cuz when the light comes on , my wife fills the tank for 41 litres. And the tank capacity is 50 litres.

Imagine being in the middle of nowhere (northern maine, a lonely highway in Arizona, or in Nevada, or stuck in a snowstorm) and asking yourself the same question... I always assume the worst is going to happen, and just fill up at half a tank.

It's fine. Put 60 miles on it yesterday after the light came on. Wanted to see if I could get 400 miles for the tank. It took 13.17 gallons to fill up though.

I took mine probably to the limit the other night, it was showing less than empty, but I only put less than a gallon to get me to a better station, next morning it took me 12.874 gallons if I remember correctly.

I made it...ended up going about 40km with the light on. Gas was 99.4 cents a litre in Montreal, 87.4 where my girlfriend lives. Filled up the tank - 47 litres exactly - for $41.08.

I went 422 km on those 47 litres or an awful 11.14 L per 100km or 21.12 mpg. This was the first tank I filled up with my Versa, so I'm hoping that the new engine and bitter cold (It's been between -15 and -20 C every night the last two weeks) is the reason fuel economy was sooooooo bad. I wonder how bad it would have been if I didn't use the block heater overnight, yeesh.

My Dad wondered the same thing on his Jeep too. Go and fill a gas can w/ a few Gallons and then drive till it stop's a few times just to see what sort of wiggle room you have.

Just filled mine as well. I filled up right after the light came on and I put in 12+ gallons. out of the 13.6 its supposed to hold. Was rather upset since my last 2 Altima's had the light come on when there was a quarter tank left. Got 21 MPG. Not thrilled either. Again, it's better than the 19 I got in my V6 Altima that requires premium. Paid about $20 less to fill up, 12 gallons of regular to the 16 of premium that I was. Reinforced why traded cars.
